National Road Victims Day: various initiatives in the coming days.

Naples. Tomorrow, November 19, 2023, we celebrate the "World Day in Memory of Road Victims“event that will culminate on November 23rd with the initiatives that will be held in the city of Rome. This anniversary is dedicated every year to those who have lost their lives on the road and to their families. An important moment that requires reflection on how fundamental it is adopt conscious and correct behavior on the road to contribute to changing the negative habits of motorists.

Distraction, high speed, failure to respect the safety distance and road signs, are just some of the many mistakes that are made when you are behind the wheel of a means of transport.
Unfortunately, even among pedestrians, risky behaviors are not uncommon, often dictated by distraction or more simply from haste.

In Italy, as in other European countries, road safety is one of the biggest problems to face. In fact, the fourth European action program on road safety sets the objective of aeliminate the number of road accident victims by 2050 and to achieve a further reduction by 2030 by 50% of victims of road accidents.
To this end, Italy with the State Police, through the branches of the Traffic Police, has undertaken a complex path to face the accident phenomenon in which the main moment is represented by the initiatives dedicated to road safety education. These moments of encounter are addressed not only to motorists but also to young people, future drivers of tomorrow, through the diffusion, starting from primary schools, of the culture of legality, of prevention and promotion of correct lifestyles, encouraging the participation of teachers, students and parents in organized activities, consolidating the cooperative relationship in terms of mobility safety, accident reduction, prevention and promotion of behavior of the most responsible.

There have been many events over the course of the year initiatives undertaken at provincial level with the participation of the Traffic Police of the Naples Section and its branches a numerous meetings with schools, not only in the context of Road Education Campaigns, already consolidated over the years in collaborations with Institutional Bodies and Associations, as the "Icarus Project","School bike","Be Wise, Drive Safe"and "Together for Safety", but also by participating in training days with all the local schools that request them, meeting students of all classes, with particular reference to high schools.

In particular, the Naples Traffic Police organized two events on the topic of road safety education and Memory of Road Victims which will be held on November 20th and 23rd, respectively at the F. Morano Higher Institute of Caivano (NA) with the collaboration of the Poste Italiane SpA company and at the Galiani Higher Institute of Naples, in memory of a young student of the school who was the victim of a road accident.

The State Police is always alongside the victims and their families thanks to operators who, appropriately trained to deal with particularly painful situations, such as road or train accidents, they help those who have survived the accident or the family of the deceased to regain control of their lives and grieve.
On this day dedicated to all accident victims, finally, a special memory is dedicated to the abelonging to the Police Force that every day on the roads they do their duty and who too often, unfortunately, have paid a very high price.
