Naples: the redevelopment of the Viale del Poggio Park begins, a picnic area and a space for recreational and sporting activities are planned
A picnic area and an area for recreational and sporting activities: they are the new services which will be built in the Viale del Poggio Park as part of an overall redevelopment program for the site. On March 19, in the presence of the Green Councilor Vincenzo Santagada, the works were handed over to the company in charge which was awarded the contract for an amount of 416.370 euros plus VAT.
The intervention is financed by the Strategic Plan of the Metropolitan City e will offer new possibilities of use for what is one of the most recently established urban parks: located in the eastern part of the hills of Naples, at an altitude of 195 meters above sea level, the Viale del Poggio Park was inaugurated in 2001.
Also present at the delivery of the works were the municipal councilor Gennaro Acampora and the president of the third Municipality Fabio Greco.
The project includes, among other things, the construction of a new flooring for the play area and for the area close to the stands, the replacement of games, cleaning of the pool, redevelopment of green areas with interventions on the arboreal and shrubby heritage, the restoration of the furnishings and strengthening of the lighting system. The waterproofing of the roof of the former library room is also planned. The new services, however, will be created by taking advantage of some currently unused spaces, which will also partly be used as an area for dog walking.
“The project relating to the Viale del Poggio Park – explained Councilor Santagada – is a further piece of the city park recovery programme. With this intervention we are not only carrying out a work of arrangement of an important green lung, but we are starting a real refunctionalisation of the entire area. Once the works are completed, we will make a space available to citizens that lends itself to various forms of use. It will be a park that can be used by athletes, but also by families to spend a few hours in the open air."
