Lombardy, greater efficiency and safety of the cycle network
Councilor Lucente: "18 million euros from the region for 62 interventions in Lombardy"
Lombardy, greater efficiency and safety of the cycle network.
Approximately 62 interventions for over 18 million euros intended for safety, strengthening and new constructions aimed at achieving conditions of greater efficiency and safety of the Lombardy cycle network. This is what is foreseen in a resolution approved by the regional council on the proposal of the councilor for Transport, Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, Franco Lucente, in concert with the councilors Claudia Maria Terzi (Infrastructure and Public Works) and Barbara Mazzali (Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion). .
The works are part of 'Lombardy Plan' which involves, overall, 150 interventions for over 52 million in regional funding.
With this resolution the Regional Council approved a list of cycle paths, the financing of which is divided into three years, from the 2024 2026.
"Is critical - Lucente said – make cycle paths increasingly efficient and safe, especially in light of the too many accidents recorded in our region. This is an example of how much the Lombardy Region is inclined towards the true idea of sustainable and future-oriented mobility. Our objective is to combine the safety of the routes with their usability for everyone, making them attractive from a tourist point of view".
“Enhancing cycling infrastructure – highlighted Terzi – is an objective that the Region pursues with determination by making available, for years, important resources for works that improve the territory and the quality of life of citizens".
“Cycle tourism is a strategic asset among the travel proposals in our region – commented Mazzali – which, by perfectly embracing our territory, makes it even more attractive for Italian and international tourists looking for 'outdoor' proposals, in the name of slow tourism and in contact with nature”.
