Genoa: the only central-northern license assigned for use of the Italia Destination Management System measure.
The Ministry of Tourism has assigned Liguria the only free user license for Northern and Central Italy for the use of the modular cloud computing solution, under the "Italia Destination Management System (DMS)" measure. For the South, four licenses were assigned to Campania, Sicily, Sardinia and Molise.
The Destination Management System (DMS) is a software system that allows the integrated management of tourist destinations and the implementation of information, reception, promotion and marketing strategies. It manages the plurality of information, resources and services of a destination and automates processes and activities that are typical of tourism organizations and responds in an innovative way to the need to promote and offer the traveler an integrated, coherent and competitive offer, as a final product and coordinated network of subjects, actors and suppliers who work together for the success of the destination.
“This is a very important assignment, because this license can be an instrument of a long-term strategy that can have a tangible return for tourism operators and will help territories and destinations to structure the management organization or improve the one already existing – declares the regional councilor for Tourism Augusto Sartori – All interested parties will be able to exploit the resources made available by third parties such as the Ministry of Tourism”.
“From today we have a new, great tool available for the promotion of our region, selected by the Ministry for this project as a region with high tourist density – says the Director of the Agency in Liguria, Matteo Garnero – Soon we will therefore be able to use this service for free innovative, to build an increasingly structured, integrated and punctual offer of Ligurian tourism as a whole, also guaranteeing greater visibility on a national and international scale for our tourist operators".
Among the other advantages of the system: avoiding duplication of the information entered, guaranteeing a plurality of both centralized and widespread uploading; multiply the possibilities of use of the managed data by different organizations by declining it for each of them depending on the role covered in the system; allow the distribution and integration of accredited and updated contents in information offices, territorial portals, thematic portals, web applications, multimedia info-totems, commercial channels of all the players in the tourism system; and finally allow savings in terms of both money and time for using licensed software compared to designing your own software.
