In the Region, discussion with unions, workers and institutions on the industrial project and the steps that will have to accompany the transition phase

“Now it's official. Faced with a very complex situation such as that concerning Ems Group, a company which risks not having a future, today there is the Bottero group which presents a serious industrial proposal which can guarantee production and employment continuity".

So Vincenzo Colla, regional councilor for Labor and Economic Development, at the meeting called in Viale Aldo Moro for a discussion between trade union organizations, local institutions and the Piedmontese company Bottero Spa, which has presented a binding offer to take over Ems Group of Montecchio Emily.

Ems Group was born in 2018 from the merger of five leading companies in the handling, palletising and storage of goods and materials sectors: approximately 200 employees at the plants in Val d'Enza and Fontevivo, in the Parma area.

During the meeting in the Region, the Bottero Spa group illustrated the industrial project, highlighting all the steps that will have to accompany the transition phase. By April 4th the operation should materialize once all the necessary steps have been completed.

“Now it is essential to proceed quickly with trade union agreements, both with Ems Group and with the Bottero group, on which the Region is ready to act as guarantor. Colla added-. This solution would allow us to save the skills and experience of a historical reality, guaranteeing prospects of industrial continuity, and would allow us to safeguard and maintain an important industry and supply chain in our region".

With the agreement of the parties it was established that the regional table will be permanent to closely monitor, step by step, the evolution of the situation and activate every useful action to arrive at the best possible solution to protect workers, in compliance with the procedures provided by the Court of Reggio Emilia.

Bottero Spa is an Italian group that has specialized in the production of glass processing machines since 1957, both for flat glass and hollow glass. In these sectors it is today among the three main global leaders, with factories, commercial subsidiaries and after-sales branches present throughout the world. In addition to the main office in Cuneo, Bottero is present in Italy in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) and Rovereto (Trento).

Present at the meeting in the Region with councilor Colla the CEO of the Botero Group, Marco Tecchio, the COO of the Bottero Group, Giuseppe Bertocchi, the representatives of Fiom Cgil of Parma and Reggio Emilia, of Fim Cisl and of the RSU, the councilor for the Municipality Budget of Montecchio Emilia, Stefano Ferri, and the mayor of Fontevivo, Tommaso Fiazza.
