Catania: Piazza Duomo, mayor Trantino delivers the Elephant fountain to the city. 

Friday 14 July, at 9am, Mayor of Catania, Enrico Trantino, will deliver to the City and to visitors the monument symbol of the community Catanese: the Elephant fountain in Piazza Duomo, the Liotru with the base of its precious marble apparatus completely regenerated.

Twenty-five years after the last reset, in fact, is interventions were necessary to remove thick layers of carbonate and organic patinas, elements which over time have broken the chromatic balance desired by Giovan Battista Vaccarini and caused serious damage to the functional apparatus of the fountain itself.

The intervention for the restoration of the marble apparatus of the fountain it was promoted by the Municipal Administration through the Public Works Directorate. TO carry out the works it was the Sicilian company Scancarello, which was awarded the restoration works, financed with the tourist tax.
