Campobasso: Work begins to connect the university area on Viale Manzoni with the railway station and other important urban hubs.

With a resolution of the Municipal Council, the Administration of Campobasso had already approved the Executive Project of the works of “Implementation of interventions concerning the safety of city cycling and the creation of cycle lanes” ex DM 12/08/2020 which were subsequently awarded.

In recent days the contractor company has announced that it will carry out the work on the urban cycle route starting from Friday 5 May 2023.

“These are works that we deliberately started in the spring season because the winter weather conditions would have made the success of the operations more complicated. – explained the councilor for Mobility, Simone Cretella – The objective of the project carried out by our Administration is to increase urban social and environmental sustainability through sustainable mobility systems. In particular, – underlined Cretella – we want to strengthen the road offer in terms of slow mobility along the route of the road system that connects the university area gravitating on Viale Manzoni, with the railway station and other important urban hubs.”

The project intervention includes the creation of a cycle path integrated into the current public road system. The planned excavations are very limited, both in depth (they do not exceed 30 cm) and in extension (they are located precisely along the itinerary) and therefore present almost no invasiveness towards the existing soil.

The type of work to be done does not present elements of environmental incompatibility, indeed the works in question offer the opportunity for a redevelopment of the areas on which we will intervene. The characteristics of the intervention, by type and materials used, taking into account the environmental context, are such as not to cause substantial changes to the landscape and the view.

To allow the executing company to carry out the planned works, the Commanding Officer of the Municipal Police, Col. Dr. Luigi Greco, signed an ordinance which provides: from 8:00 am on Friday 5 May 2023 until the institution's works are completed of the parking ban to be implemented through vertical road signs indicating "parking ban" on the first 5 stalls of the parking area located in Via Manzoni for construction site preparation; from 8:00 am on Friday 5 May 2023 until the works are completed, the establishment of a parking ban to be implemented through vertical road signs indicating "no parking" and an alternate one-way system regulated by a traffic light system and/or the use of its own traffic lights , in the following city streets or sections of them:

1. Viale Manzoni (from the intersection with Via Scardocchia to the intersection with Via M. Bologna/Via Trivisonno);

2. Via M. Bologna (from the intersection with Via Trivisonno to the intersection with Via Gazzani);

3. Via Herculanea (up to the intersection with Via Cavour);

4. Via Cavour (from the intersection with Via Herculanea to the intersection with Via Garibaldi);

5. Via Garibaldi (from the intersection with Via Cavour/Via Umberto to the intersection with Via Mazzini);

6. Via Mazzini (from the intersection with Via Garibaldi to P.zza Pepe);

7. C.so Bucci (from P.zza Pepe to P.zza D'Ovidio);

8. P.zza D'Ovidio (from C.so Bucci to the intersection of P.zza V. Emanuele);

9. P.zza V. Emanuele (from the intersection with P.zza D'Ovidio to the intersection with Via Nobile);

10.Viale Elena (from the intersection with Via Nobile to the intersection with P.zza F. and B.);

11.P.zza Falcone e Borsellino (area in front of number 3);

The company carrying out the works will ensure the positioning of the vertical road signs 48 hours before the start of the works and will adopt all the measures that guarantee traffic safety and compliance with the workplace safety regulations referred to in the Legislative Decree. No. 81/2008.
