Bologna: Riva Reno, construction sites begin, parking lots and changes to traffic

After the green light from the Superintendence, in via Riva di Reno we are preparing for the construction site according to the methods already announced.

Bologna: Riva Reno, construction sites begin, parking lots and changes to traffic.

The area between the roundabout in Piazza Azzarita and the church of Santa Maria della Visitazione was closed to vehicular traffic to allow the construction site to be established.

The closure of the intersection with Via delle Lame was also included in this first phase of the intervention, to then continue, but only from 22 April, with the actual works, following an activity plan which first of all foresees the demolition of the canal roof slab.

The alternative parking plan developed for the 16 months of coexistence with the construction site, which favors the proximity needs of residents, workers and businesses, already announced by the Administration and presented during five meetings in the District, is available on the website trambologna.it.

New road system

The previously announced changes to circulation are confirmed.

It will be closed for about three months the Riva Reno-Lame intersection, at which, coming from the center on via delle Lame, it will be possible to turn right onto Riva Reno towards Marconi or left towards via Brugnoli, both for vehicular traffic and for public transport.
The stretch of via Riva di Reno south of the church of Santa Maria of the Visitation it will only be passable one-way towards the outskirts to enter via Brugnoli, which will remain two-way, with the possibility of reversing at the Church.
Cycle-pedestrian traffic will always be guaranteed, with the obligation of hand-cycling to pass the Lame-Riva Reno intersection.
In this construction phase, in the stretch of via Riva di Reno between via delle Lame and via Marconi, unauthorized access to the restricted traffic zone will be allowed from Marconi and Largo Caduti del Lavoro, with continuation on via Azzo Gardino, which will change the direction of travel; once reached via Riva di Reno, non-authorised ZTL users will be able to cross via delle Lame and continue, then turning right onto via Brugnoli. The camera protecting the preferential lane on Via Marconi at Via del Porto will be temporarily turned off, but the ZTL gates will remain active. All changes can be consulted on the site trambologna.it

Public transport

In the first days of the start of the construction site, public transport lines will pass on regular routes, compatibly with the progress of the works.

From the middle of next week, changes and deviations to the routes are expected, the details of which will be reported on the website www.tper.it.

To give continuity to public transport during the construction phases, two temporary preferential routes have been established around the area of via Riva di Reno: the first in via Luigi Calori, on the right side of the road, up to the intersection with viale Silvani, near of the traffic light; the second in the stretch of viale Silvani between number 6 (intersection with via Calori) and piazza di Porta San Felice.

A new bus stop has been temporarily introduced in via Calori, at number 13.
