Bari: work begins on the new municipal collection center in via ML King.
Renovation works have begun on the Amiu Puglia zonal depot in via Martin Luther King, which will allow the creation of the first municipal collection center located in the urban fabric of the city of Bari, which will be added to the industrial area's CCR (via Accolti Gil) in the compendium managed by Amiu Puglia.
The internal areas will be divided by functionality, so as to guarantee the absence of interference between the presence of citizens and the operational activities of the local depot.
The design of the works and the construction works, entrusted through public procedures, are entirely financed within the PON METRO 2014-2020 - Axis 6 - Action 6.1.4 - Project BA.6.1.4.c for a total amount of approximately 660.000 EUR.
To allow the work to be carried out, the warehouse in via Martin Luther King will be closed for three months. Alternatively, the center in via Accolti Gil and the three mobile ecological islands are available, the opening hours of which are available here.available here.
“There will be some small inconvenience for citizens linked to the three-month closure of this collection centre, but at the end of the works we will have a new collection centre, more functional, more comfortable, with the possibility of collecting all types of waste, therefore meeting the needs of citizens to carry out separate waste collection correctly - declares the Environment Councilor of the Municipality of Bari, Pietro Petruzzelli. – With the new structure we will also try to raise the quality of the collection itself, so we will change but to improve and offer an increasingly high-performance service".
“Through these renovation works, we will provide the city of Bari with a new and modern municipal collection center in a particularly important area – adds the president of Amiu Puglia spa, Paolo Pate -. An important investment has been intercepted which will allow us to transform what was a warehouse into a collection center which will help us in the progressive action of accompanying the city of Bari in improving the quantity and quality of separate waste collection".
The completion of the works has been set for December 2023.
