Bari: the "Dance Prize at Piccinni" awards assigned, the gala in November in the municipal theater.

Great enthusiasm in the world of dance schools for the contest “Dance Award at Piccinni”, the initiative strongly supported by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Bari, promoted and created by the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese in collaboration with AltraDanza, created to enhance the talents and training quality of local dance schools. Contest which will converge in an evening on November 5th at the Piccinni Theater with the awarding and official award ceremony at the opening of the "Evening of Bari dance stars", a gala organized by Domenico Iannone / AltraDanza company, scheduled as part of the theater season 2023/24 of the Municipality of Bari created and promoted by the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese.
The artistic commission of the award, composed of Domenico Iannone (choreographer; artistic director of the AltraDanza company and of the Festival Explorare; president of the commission), Simona de Tullio (choreographer and artistic director of Breathing Art Company and of the “San Nicola” international dance prize ), Roberta Ferrara (choreographer and artistic director of Equilibrio Dinamico and Ensemble), Giordano Orchi (choreographer and associate artist of ResExtensa / Porta d'Oriente national dance production centre), Ezio Schiavulli (choreographer; artistic director of the promotion of Dance RI.ESCO. and of the international Danza Puglia Network) and Gemma Di Tullio (responsible for the dance activities of the regional multidisciplinary circuit Teatro Pubblico Pugliese), has decided to award the following prizes:

• “Best MODERN group” awarded to Opificio delle arti Danza e Musica with “Nel blu rossa di blu”, choreography by Graziana Putignani
• “Best CONTEMPORARY group” awarded to ASD Accadèmie Danzart with “Complex Semplicity”, choreography by Rosaria Loconte and Fabrizio Natalicchio
• “Best YOUNG TALENT”, awarded to Giordano Signorile with “Temporary life?”, choreography by Fausta Policarpo, Giava Dance School
  Furthermore, Domenico Iannone, together with the other members of the artistic commission, having noted the excellent level of all the students who performed and to underline the objective of highlighting possible new stars of national and international dance, decided to recognize a further special mention, with the Special Prize
•  “GUEST SOLOIST”, awarded to Marica Lisco with “Out of my mind”, choreography by Sabrina Speranza, Unika Entertainment Academy.
  “We imagined and designed the Danza al Piccinni award to encourage the talents that are born and grow in the many dance schools in Bari. In the past, the Piccinni was the scene of performances by dance schools which still today open up opportunities for many local male and female dancers, some of whom later became famous throughout the world. This award is an important double recognition and represents a hand extended by the Department of Culture towards male and female dancers and in favor of the many schools, the nursery in which the passion of many girls and boys is born and in which the awareness of the choices that are accomplished in one's life.
  Certain things can be said with words, others with movements, but there are also moments in which one remains speechless: at that point the dance begins" explains the Councilor for Cultures Ines Pierucci.

In addition to the prizes provided for by the regulation, to broaden the opportunities for supporting the growth of talents, three additional scholarships were also awarded to fully cover the costs of participation in important training courses.

The scholarships:

• scholarship for participation in the international workshop as part of the “The seasons of talents” project of Breathing Art Company awarded by Simona de Tullio to Alessia Antonacci, on stage with “Wake up”, choreography by Fabrizio Natalicchio, ASD Accadèmie Danzart;
• scholarship for participation in the 2023/2024 professional training course with Giordano Orchi of ResExtensa/National Dance Production Center Porta d'Oriente awarded by Giordano Orchi to Giordano Signorile, on stage with “Temporary life?”, choreography by Fausta Policarpo, Java School of Dance;
• Scholarship for participation in the contemporary dance masterclass with the choreographers of the international company Kor'sia of ResExtensa//National Center for the Production of Dance Porta d'Oriente awarded by Giordano Orchi to Rosaria Stellarci, on stage with “Nel blu cuore di blu2, choreography by Graziana Putignani, Opificio delle arti Danza e Musica.

The winners of the categories “Best MODERN group”, “Best CONTEMPORARY group”, “Best YOUNG TALENT” And "GUEST SOLOIST”“, will be officially awarded on November 5, 2023 at the Piccinni Theatre.

Immediately after the awards ceremony, the winners will bring the same creations with which they won the prizes to the Piccinni stage, in the presence of the public who attended the "Evening of Bari dance stars".
Also, the winner of the category “Best YOUNG TALENT” will receive a scholarship worth € 1.500 as support for starting his professional career in the dance field.
