Ascoli Piceno: ultra-broadband, work completed on 90% of construction sites in the Marche region.

Promote digital skills, bridge the gap in terms of access to the network, integrate new technologies into economic processes and make all public services digital. These are the objectives of the European agenda, regarding digitalisation and information and communication technologies, which the Marche region has also implemented.

It was discussed at the Confindustria headquarters in Ascoli Piceno, in the first of the two scheduled meetings, entitled “Ultra-broadband, digital and innovation: levers for the economic development of the territory”.

A morning of work, to take stock of the progress of Ultra Broadband in the municipalities and the main projects of the Agenda for the Digital Transformation of the Marche.

Then the focus turned to the future, with the new strategic initiatives, possible thanks to the PNRR funds and the new ERDF programming.

“Digital growth is one of the qualifying objectives of the regional government's action – reports the Councilor for Economic Development Andrea Antonini – We aim to make the Marche a widespread digital village where each territory, with its own excellence and peculiarities, has the possibility of developing economically and socially, opening up to the new opportunities offered by the digitalisation of services. We are satisfied with the progress made with the ultra-broadband deployment plan which is bringing tangible results. There is still work to be done to serve the areas that are not fully covered, to achieve the full objective of widespread and widespread connectivity. But already now the Marche is a reality that has been able to implement innovative models and latest generation digital infrastructures that mark a discontinuity with the past to promote an increasingly innovative, attractive, inclusive and supportive development".

La Marche region, to make the territory more intelligent and sustainable, is in fact working to facilitate the development of new generation digital infrastructures.

First of all the Ultra Broadband and the related plan for the infrastructure of the White Areas (in which telecommunications operators have no interest in investing), the fiber connection of all the PA offices (central and local) of the health centers public and school buildings in Common 217 interested.

As of today I am 197 construction sites closed (90.8%), of which 147 tested (67.7%). The regional territory presents peculiar characteristics with widespread residential and industrial centers and production districts scattered throughout the territory.

These assumptions led to the definition of the new digital transformation strategy which has the Diffuse Digital Village at its centre.

This is the development model adopted by the Region to also allow an area of small, widespread and scattered excellence to use digital as a lever for the transformation of its fabric, made up of small economic entities and small-sized entities.

The planning of the Municipalities relating to the tender will also be at the center of the first meeting “Integrated Digital Services” of PR FESR 21/27. The Region has received around 190 applications from the Municipalities and has obtained authorization to extend the current allocation of 7 million by a further one and a half million euros, in order to be able to finance all the projects that will be admitted to the ranking.

The meeting will be attended, together with councilor Antonini, by the director of the Economic Development department Stefania Bussoletti and the manager of the Digital Transition and IT sector Serena Carota. Also present at the table were Andrea Sergiacomi, head of the Digital Transformation Agenda of the Marche region, and Mirco Sturari, official of the Digital Transition and IT Sector of the Marche Region.

Also speaking were the mayor of Ascoli Piceno and president of Anci Marche, Marco Fioravanti, and the president of the Small Industry of Confindustria Ascoli Piceno, Pietro Marini.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday 14 March 2024 in Senigallia at La Rotonda a Mare (Piazzale della Libertà n. 23), starting from 10am.
