Portoferraio (Livorno), Carabinieri checks increased during the Halloween weekend's nightlife nights

During the “Halloween” weekend, the Carabinieri of the Portoferraio Company, supported by the crews of the local Operational and Radiomobile Unit, they have intensified surveillance in the territory of the jurisdiction, in particular in the centre of Portoferraio and in the western part of the island, by implementing targeted checks to combat phenomena that compromise road safety and prevent and repress drug use and alcohol abuse.

A significant number of patrols dedicated to territorial control have been deployed, with a view to strengthening the prevention of all forms of crime, with particular attention to incorrect driving behaviour.

The deployment of specific operational devices near night clubs and along the main communication routes, as well as in the most isolated areas of the island, allowed for the control of 36 vehicles and 57 people, 16 of whom were subjected to breathalyser tests, all of which were found to be within the norm.

In addition to these, there were also checks on 6 people subjected to precautionary and preventive measures, and 5 public places, for which the military are still verifying the regularity of their activities.
A young man from Portoferraio who was driving his car without insurance had his vehicle seized and was given a fine of €866. Two other motorists were fined for failure to have their vehicle serviced and for tires that did not conform to the characteristics of the vehicle.

The checks will continue throughout the Elban territory, also aimed at increasing the safety of the inhabitants of the territory, on which the attention of the Carabinieri Company of Portoferraio remains high and constant.
For this reason, the prevention and contrast services carried out by the Carabinieri will continue assiduously, especially on weekends, combining the widespread preventive activity with a continuous repressive activity of illicit conduct in general.
