Piombino: Carabinieri checks on New Year's Eve, two drivers reported who tested positive to the breathalyzer involved in a road accident.
The military of the Piombino Radiomobile Unit carried out several checks on the main roads of the Val di Cornia to ascertain the possible abuse of alcohol and the use of narcotics. During the aforementioned checks, the Carabinieri had to intervene to detect a road accident that occurred along a secondary road in the Suvereto area, which had caused only minor injuries to a passenger. At the end, however, the military reported the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the accident, as both tested positive to the breathalyzer test. The first, a 20-year-old, was caught with a blood alcohol level of 1,59 g/l, while the other, also of the same age, had 0,83 g/l. Both residents in the area had their driving licenses immediately revoked and were reported to the Livorno Judicial Authority.
The activity to combat drug taking and alcohol abuse is aimed at guaranteeing road safety, as such illicit conduct constitutes a prominent risk factor both for the interested party and for other unaware road users and will continue on the entire provincial territory.
