Campiglia Marittima: Cuts down 18 oak trees without any type of authorization, fined 3 thousand euros

The commitment of the Carabinieri Forestali is constant and widespread throughout the province of Livorno, in constant coordination and collaboration with the Provincial Command of Livorno, aimed at monitoring and control of the forest territory with a view to preventing and repressing any criminal or administrative offence, which may cause damage to the green heritage of the province of Livorno. In fact, forest uses must conform to current regulations, both national and regional, aimed at protecting and maintaining the efficiency and health of the forests, as well as preventing the triggering of hydrogeological instability phenomena caused by disorderly management combined with the loss of forest cover.

The activity conducted by the Carabinieri Forestali in force at the Venturina Nucleus fits into this context, which, inscope of constant control activities aimed at protecting the environment and landscape and environmental constraints, after checks conducted in a rural location of the municipality of Campiglia Marittima, they detected irregularities connected to the logging which forced them to proceed with imposing the expected fine on the person responsible.

In particular, from the investigations carried out, the carabinieri have reportedly ascertained that a plot of land measuring approximately 3400 square metres, protected for hydrogeological purposes, had been transformed, without the authorisation required by Tuscan regional legislation, into land subject to cultivation with the consequent felling of 18 oak trees measuring more than 40 cm in diameter. The military therefore proceeded to raise the administrative sanction of €3.000 expected to be charged to the alleged responsible party who has been identified.

The checks by the forestry police to protect the environment will continue alongside those of the respective competent territorial Carabinieri stations on a constant basis, given the attention paid by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Livorno to the protection and safeguarding of the environment and with a primarily preventive perspective in the fight against any hydrogeological phenomena harmful to the safety of the population, in line with the indications shared at the Committee for Public Order and Security at the Prefecture of Livorno.
