Livorno: Clashes between fans in Coteto. 7 people reported by the Carabinieri for brawling

I Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Company of Livorno, at the end of a complex and articulated investigative activity, they reported it to the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Livorno 7 Guests belonging to the local football fans.

The in-depth investigations conducted by the investigators of the Livorno Company in fact, have allowed them to collect and bring to the evaluation of the local investigating magistrates detailed evidence which has confirmed the active participation in the violent brawl broke out on September 29 last, one Sunday afternoon, in Coteto district of Livorno.

The investigations were structured by systematizing the results of the analysis of video traces recorded by the video surveillance circuits of the areas involved, also confirmed by in-depth investigations conducted with traditional investigation methods, i.e. structured observation, control and shadowing services of the suspects both in the areas facing the stadium during sporting events and through acquisitions in order to movements and internal dynamics of the most active fringes within the local organized fan groups.

These investigations made it possible to ascertain that the clashes involved two distinct factions of the same local fan base, contrasted by a heated ideological contrast. In particular, the violent confrontation saw the supporters of the “North Curve” and those of the group called “Livorno Ultras”.

It also emerged that this last group of supporters, following the riots and consequences resulting from the events of that Sunday 29 September 2024, would definitively cease to exist, decreeing its dissolution shortly after the event.

From the images, elements have been collected which would prove, sometimes even clearly, that the participants in the aggression, at the time of the bloody clashes, were even already previously in possession of tools and/or objects capable of causing harm; this detail would reveal a meticulous preparation for violent action.

The same suspects are said to have worn clothing and accessories suitable for disguise, which were unusual considering the scorching temperatures of that late summer day.

These details have further strengthened the circumstantial evidence, in terms of evidence, bringing to light how the group had carefully planned the violent action, providing strategies to evade recognition in order to make identification operations by the Authorities more difficult.

Further investigations are underway to identify other figures who may have participated in the clashes. However, almost all 7 individuals suspects, from Livorno, aged between 24 and 54, are burdened by previous of the police, and in particular for crimes against the person and relating to drugs.

Many of them, moreover, in the past or currently, they had already been recipients of the DASPO measure, a restrictive measure issued precisely following violent and illicit conduct linked to the Livorno Calcio fans.

This aspect underlines the recidivist profile of various subjects involved and their persistent link with illegal dynamics within organised fandom.

For all identified subjects and reported at large for aggravated brawl in conjunction with the competent Judicial Authority of Livorno, a formal request was also made to the Public Security Authority for the issuing of an appropriate measure Access Prohibition to Sporting Events (DASPO); this proposal – with a priority focus on protecting public order and safety – is aimed at preventing further episodes of violence linked to the environment of organised fan groups and is currently being assessed by the competent Authorities who are examining the individual positions of those under investigation.
