Castagneto Carducci. The Carabinieri identify and report the alleged perpetrator of a scam against the owner of a tobacco shop.

The Carabinieri of the Castagneto Carducci station, at the end of investigations and investigations starting from a complaint from the owner of a local tobacconist, identified and reported a 35-year-old man with multiple criminal convictions from Grosseto for fraud.

In December, the merchant had received a request from a customer for two shopping vouchers worth 300 euros each via a platform that allows the release of prepaid codes to be redeemed. At the time of payment the customer presented a card which resulted not working and then left claiming to go to withdraw the corresponding sum in cash without however returning.

Even later the man put forward the most varied pretexts to justify himself to the merchant for the non-payment and in the end he disappeared without trace. There victim then turned to the Carabinieri of Castagneto Carducci when she realized that the two vouchers had been redeemed when, probably in a moment of distraction, the 35-year-old had managed to steal the codes generated by the system.

The men of the force, based on the information provided by the victim and the modus operandi of the scammer, no stranger to such events, they started investigations, quickly managing to give him a name and a face and report him to the Labronica AG for the crime of fraud.
