The controls of the NAS - Anti-adulteration and Health Unit of Livorno continue in the province as part of the Carabinieri campaign on food safety to protect public health and consumers with several inspections in public establishments.
Following an inspection in Castiglioncello to verify compliance with current legislation and prevent potential risks to public health, the Carabinieri ascertained that inside the business, for administration to customers, refrigerated food products (brioches, cakes, semi-finished products based on cream and cream, various sauces, sausages) without traceability that would allow the provenance to be verified, in violation of sector regulations which require food to be stored in packages from which, among other things, the expiry date, origin and batch number can be seen, indispensable requirement to deal with any contamination.
All foods, approximately 40 kg and worth approximately 1.000 euros were subjected to precautionary seizure, the owner was fined 1.500 euros and the relevant authorities have been informed.
The checks will continue with particular attention during this period in view of the Easter holidays.
