Livorno: Drug possession, illegally held weapons, driving with a blood alcohol level over 4 times the legal limit

In Cecina, Castagneto Carducci and Rosignano Marittimo, the military of the Provincial Command of Livorno supported by the Carabinieri Canine Units of Florence and Pisa-San Rossore, of the CC Inspectorate of Labour Unit of Livorno and of the 4th CC Helicopter Unit of Pisa, they carried out an extraordinary control service coordinated territorial plan aimed at visibility with a view to increasing levels of perceived safety, preventing and combating widespread crime with particular regard to drug dealing, even in wooded areas.

The use of thehelicopter has allowed an effective vision and coordination of the device while the use of dog handlers has allowed to benefit from the peculiar abilities of the dogs of the Arma in the fight against drugs; the service, coordinated by the Cecina Company, has seen the use of about 50 Carabinieri who have also carried out searches, two of which have given a "positive" result: one against a 20enne of Romanian nationality and one to one 40enne of Moroccan nationality residing in the municipality of Cecina.

For the young man Romanian, already burdened by previous police convictions for narcotics, was arrested because found in possession of 40g of cocaine, 70g of hashish and 6 ecstasy pills as well as 28 illegally held 12 gauge hunting rifle cartridges. The same, once the ritual formalities have been completed, he was transferred to the county jail of Livorno at the disposal of the Judicial Authority; the Moroccan citizen instead was reported to the Prefecture as drug user as he was found in possession of 3 grams of marijuana for personal use.

During the activity, the following were reported at liberty:

• un 25enne Italian found driving his own car while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level over 4 times the legal limit (2,03 g/l); his driving licence was immediately withdrawn and the vehicle was seized;
• un 30enne of Moroccan nationality, already subjected to the measure of house arrest, found in possession of approximately 8 grams of hashish divided into 6 doses ready for retail sale;
• un 40enne of Russian origins but resident in Rosignano Marittimo surprised, at the Rosignano Solvay railway station in possession of a knife of the prohibited type with a total length of 16 cm
• un 70enne Rosignano for failure to keep weapons; in particular, the aforementioned, holder of a gun license for hunting, after a hunt, inadvertently left his rifle on the roof of the car, losing it. The weapon was found and seized by the carabinieri at a considerable distance. For him, the suitability to maintain the gun license will be verified.

During the aforementioned service, the military personnel assisted by military personnel from the Cecina Company, as part of the inspection activity included in the “EMPACT ACTION THB LABOUR EXPLOITATION IN THE AGRICOLTURAL SECTOR SIENA 2319372” have reported a 38enne of Albanian origins, owner of an agricultural business, for serious violations in terms of health and safety in the workplace, imposing fines for a total of €5.000; the suspension of the business activity was also ordered.

On the subject of drug control, 5 people have been reported to the Prefecture as users of narcotic substances for non-therapeutic use and a total of: 41 grams of cocaine; 73 grams of hashish; 3 grams of marijuana; a modest amount of amphetamines; 6 ecstasy pills.

At the end of the activities, 159 people were checked, of which 8 were subjected to precautionary and preventive measures, 120 vehicles and 11 fines were issued for a total amount of approximately 1.600 euros.
