Livorno: Drug dealing center identified and dismantled, 30-year-old arrested

The commitment dedicated by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Livorno continues at a constant pace and, following the guidelines shared by the Committee for Public Order and Security at the Prefecture of Livorno, is aimed at to counter criminal dynamics and potential degradation of some areas of the territory. The intervention carried out by the Carabinieri of the Livorno Operational and Radiomobile Unit, following which they A 30-year-old North African citizen was arrested, seriously suspected of drug dealing.

Following theintensification of territorial control activities aimed at monitoring but above all countering illicit movements in general, in order to support some suspicions that had developed during the investigative activities conducted on their own initiative, the Carabinieri first carried out monitoring activities of the movements of the subject suspected of being involved in illicit trafficking in the territory.

During the aforementioned preventive operations of fight against drug dealing they have been sifted through central urban areas of Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza XX Settembre and nearby minor streets, as well as the Corea and Shangai neighborhoods, significantly increasing anti-degradation initiatives. Near the home where the thirty-year-old now under investigation resides, in fact, in the centre of Livorno, unusual movements of people had been recorded which had aroused their suspicions, suggesting a continuous drug dealing activity. Having been informed of the findings obtained from the investigations, the military therefore carried out a house search on his own initiative.

The activity in question has allowed us to recover over 850 grams of hashish, hidden in a plastic bag placed out of the way on the terrace of the house, material suitable for packaging doses to be sold and 7000 euros in cash, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing. Today's judicial police operation is in addition to the incessant and intense action of the Carabinieri of the Livorno, Cecina, Piombino and Portoferraio Companies, committed to identifying and dismantling drug dealing centers scattered throughout the respective territories of the province of Livorno, where in recent times real contexts organized in every detail in the preparation and packaging of doses ready for sale have been found.

More often than not, it was the suspicious movements of people going to buy the drug that attracted the attention of the operators. Among the interventions conducted by the Livorno Carabinieri we must go back to the spring of 2024, towards the end of March, in Campo nell'Elba, where a 45-year-old had 1,5 kg of cocaine and hashish in his home and everything needed to sell them in ready-made doses. On April 11th it's Cecina's turn, where in a house that was a “shop” for doses of cocaine, approximately half a kilo of the substance was recovered, along with scales and a machine for vacuum-packing the doses.

On May 17th it is the turn of a foreigner from North Africa in Piombino, organized for the also home delivery with all the necessary equipment in the pouch to cut, weigh and package the drugs ready to wear and at home almost half a kilo of cocaine, hashish and heroin. On May 28th, in Rosignano Marittimo, a 35 year old housewife from Eastern Europe, unsuspected, he hides in his house a hundred and fifty grams of cocaine, cash and the usual shop set up for preparing doses. June 20th in Livorno a man in his sixties at home, in addition to drugs of all kinds, keeps a "ledger" where he notes the deliveries to the "customers".

On July 17, the Rio carabinieri found a drug bazaar and at home, in addition to the drugs and the money, the suspect even has a small pocket manual entitled "cocaine and cocaine" in which the author discusses the history, the methods of abuse, the trafficking, the toxicity, in short a complete guide that delves into all the aspects related to the narcotics of our time.

August 8th in Cecina two young men of foreign origin were caught with over 100 doses ready for sale, other drugs and material to prepare and weigh new ones; they also had a machete in their possession. August 19th in Campo nell'Elba a young man was arrested because he had in his house a central with over 1 kg of hashish and cocaine and a good 4.000 euros in cash. These are the oldest cases, to which are added the most recent operations concluded by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Livorno engaged in the action to combat drug trafficking and consumption and which have allowed in the last period to to bring to light and dismantle real drug dealing centers set up inside private homes.

All the drugs, the money and the materials for weighing and packaging the doses, at the end of the ritual reporting and collection operations, were seized, while the man was arrested in flagrante delicto for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing. By order of the competent Livorno Judicial Authority he was confined in the local Le Sughere prison in Livorno pending the provisions of the Preliminary Investigation Judge who has the arrest was validated by confirming the precautionary measure in prison against him where he was therefore held.
