Livorno: Carabinieri services intensified in the center, 6 people reported at large.
The Carabinieri of the Livorno Company, as part of the intensification of services ordered by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Livorno, in line with the strategic directives of the Prefect shared at the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, have carried out checks with the use of various patrols from the stations of the capital and the support of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit, aimed at preventing crime in general, with particular attention to the fight against drug dealing in the context of episodes of bad nightlife, without neglecting the protection of road safety, paying particular attention to the city center in the area that includes the squares of the Republic, Garibaldi, Mazzini and Piazza XX Settembre up to also embracing the minor road network around them.
During the recent activity, carried out in the evening, during a police check in Piazza Garibaldi, the Carabinieri surprised and reported for aggravated drug dealing a man and a woman in their thirties who were caught having sold 1 gram of marijuana to a young man.
Following the subsequent personal search of the woman, the following were found: additional 6 grams of hashish.
The drugs found were seized while the buyer was reported to the local Prefecture as a user for non-therapeutic purposes.
Also within the scope of the action of the Carabinieri aimed at preventing widespread crime, three men, aged between 19 and 47, were reported for carrying objects capable of causing offence and possession of burglary tools.
The aforementioned were caught, in the area between Piazza Dante, Via Pera and Via Maggi, during a check by the Carabinieri, in possession, respectively, of a folding knife with a 15 cm blade, of scissors with blades 15 cm long and various burglary tools and lock picks, without any of them being able to justify the reason for carrying them.
On the delicate and current front that concerns the priority protection of road safety and the prevention of accidents, especially on pre-holidays and holidays, a 31-year-old driver from Eastern Europe was reported after he was caught in Piazza della Repubblica while driving a car without a license, which he had never obtained.
During the same service, three administrative sanctions were also imposed, as foreseen in the case of driving under the influence of alcohol, on a man in his forties who was passing through the Cecina area, who was stopped by the military in Via Firenze while he was driving his car with verified blood alcohol level equal to 0,7 gr/l.; also a young man in his twenties from the area was checked in the same area of via Firenze on board his car with a blood alcohol level of 0,6 g/l, finally, a woman over forty years old, resident in the city, was also checked while driving her car near Piazza Garibaldi with a blood alcohol level of 0,7 gr/l.
In the same operational context, the Carabinieri of Livorno reported to the competent offices of the local Prefecture, as a user of narcotics for non-therapeutic purposes, a young man in his early twenties from the area who, during a check, shortly before the area of via Pietro Nenni, had on him 1,87 grams of cocaine intended for personal use and which was simultaneously seized by the officers.
