Castagneto Carducci (LI): checks by the forestry carabinieri. Two people fined for unauthorized cutting of forest.

The tasks of the Forestry Carabinieri include the control of forestry activities and the regular conduct of wood cutting in the woods, which is of particular importance for the protection of the territory.

Forestry uses must comply with rather stringent rules, both national and regional, aimed at maintaining the efficiency and health of forests and avoiding the triggering of hydrogeological instability phenomena due to a disorderly loss of forest cover.

In this regard, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in the locality of Bruciato, the 53-year-old owner of a forestry company based in that municipality was sanctioned, in competition with the technical director of the works, for an amount of over 1.500 euros for having carried out a forest cut that did not comply with sector regulations. In particular, the Forestry Carabinieri of the Cecina Unit contested one trespassing of approximately 3.200 square meters in the thinning cut of a pine forest, resulting in the felling of 14 stone pine plants in excess of what was authorised.

The checks will continue to protect the environment and the landscape in collaboration with the territorial police.
