Lecco: Works created by young patients and guests of CasAmica on display

Thirty works, made with the technique of tempera and watercolors, 2 projects involving 10 adults and 10 children, all guests of CasAmica ODV a Lecco, 2 artists as “masters” and numerous volunteers who have donated their time to bring the show that - from the 18 28 February – is set up in the atrium of theManzoni hospital in Lecco.

Promoted and created by thevolunteer organization which has been dealing with for almost 40 years welcome and support patients who, with their families, are forced to travel from their city or region to undergo medical treatment, the initiative is one of the many activities that CasAmica carries out in its Homes, offering not only a safe place to sleep but also – and above all – a real support network made up of volunteers and professionals who give the warmth of a family even to those who are far from their own.

In particular, the Casa di Lecco also hosts people and families in situations of social fragility in close synergy with the Social Services of the city and the province.

La show, made possible thanks to the collaboration of theManzoni Hospital, exposes the works created by guests of the Casa di Lecco who, together with the volunteers, participated in the last few months in two projects which saw them as protagonists.

The works on display were created by the adult guests, using the watercolour technique, and by the younger ones, using the tempera technique.

To lead the project aimed at adults was the painter Luciano Tonello, with which volunteers and guests of CasAmica Lecco tried their hand at the art of drawing and coloring.

The course included some technical notions to then proceed in the depiction of some views of Lecco or, at their own choice, of beloved places, giving each participant the opportunity to express, through drawing and colour, an ability they didn't even know they possessed.

«Watching them work, appreciating the work of others, expressing their ideas on the various jobs was very enjoyable. - Explains Cecilia Pirrone, responsible CasAmica Reception Area - The climate of welcome, care and solidarity that you immediately feel upon entering CasAmica has also infected Maestro Tonello.

It is precisely by observing everyone's commitment that we wanted to demonstrate with an exhibition how, even in difficult moments, when the dominant thought is that of one's own illness, that of a family member, that of a dear friend, one can live experiences that enrich us.He concludes.
