Lecce: Carabinieri in action to tear the veil off crime in the suburbs.

Important control operation by the Carabinieri in the outskirts of Lecce. Patrols supported by specialized units combed the neighborhoods of Santa Rosa and 167. 1 arrest, various individuals found in possession of narcotics and driving without a license. In a recreational club, two people were reported for failure to comply with the provisions of the authority. A food service business was fined for irregularities.

In response to recent news events that have raised concerns about the safety of citizens, the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Lecce has initiated an extraordinary intervention aimed at strengthening the presence of law enforcement in our territory.

This intervention is part of the directives that emerged following the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security at the Prefecture of Lecce, demonstrating the immediate reactivity of the men of the Arma. Since yesterday evening, in fact, the patrols of the Lecce Company, supported by the Operational Intervention Teams of the 11th Carabinieri Regiment "Puglia", have carried out widespread checks in the main peripheral areas of the Salento capital, in particular in the neighborhoods of Santa Rosa, 167 and the areas adjacent to the train station.

The results of these operations have been significant both for the prevention and for the fight against crime phenomena.

The Carabinieri of the Lecce Santa Rosa Station have executed an order to replace the precautionary measure of house arrest with precautionary custody in prison issued by the Court of Appeal of Lecce against a man because he was deemed presumed responsible for violations of the provisions imposed on him with the previous measure of house arrest.

During the checks, numerous individuals with suspicious behavior were identified. In particular, some of them were found in possession of narcotics and others were found driving without a license, because it had expired and in one case never obtained. These actions not only allowed crimes to emerge, but also helped to dissuade illegal behavior, increasing the feeling of security among the citizens of Lecce.
During a check carried out at a recreational club in the 167th district, two individuals were reported at liberty for failure to comply with the authorities' orders.

The two, together with other individuals already known to the police, attempted to evade identification but were promptly reached by the men of the force.
In collaboration with the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit (NAS), a food and beverage service business in the Santa Rosa district was checked and fined for regulatory non-compliance with a report of over 2000 euros.
Overall, the operation also led to the reporting of 4 young people to the Territorial Office of the Government, pursuant to Art. 75 of Presidential Decree 309/90 and to the seizure of approximately 9 grams of “hashish”.

14 vehicles and 61 people were checked, 16 of whom were already known to the news with criminal records, culminating in Highway Code fines for a total of approximately 4000 euros.
