Illegal substances in the kitchen, young drug dealer arrested in Noha

Yesterday evening, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Carabinieri Company of Maglie carried out an important control operation in the territory, culminating with the arrest in flagrante delicto of a 24 year old young man, of the place, already known to the police, for illicit possession of narcotic substances. The operation was the result of careful monitoring by the military of the Arma which led to a first a personal search and then a house search of the young man.

During the intervention, The Carabinieri found two packages of a presumably narcotic substance of the cocaine type, for a total weight of approximately 120 grams, and 11 doses of the same substance, for a total weight of approximately 4 grams, all hidden inside a plastic box in the kitchen. During the search, they were also seized 400 euros in banknotes of various denominations, an electronic scale and packaging material, all elements that suggest an ongoing drug dealing activity.

The fight against drug trafficking is one of the priorities for the Carabinieri and local institutions. Through these operations, the aim is not only to guarantee the safety of citizens, but also to reduce the availability of illegal substances in drug dealing areas, thus combating a phenomenon that damages the community. The seized narcotic substance was sent to the laboratories for analysis, while, at the end of the legal formalities, the young man was placed under house arrest at his home., as ordered by the Public Prosecutor on duty of the Lecce Public Prosecutor's Office who is conducting the investigations.
