Campi Salentina: Carabinieri sweep check, nearly 100 people identified and 4 licenses withdrawn

It was the area of ​​northern Salento, the one that yesterday evening, was put under the magnifying glass of the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Lecce. And it was right there that the soldiers of the Campi Salentina Company carried out blanket checks on the main roads that affect most of the surrounding municipalities. Services aimed at combating crimes in general with particular reference to the legislation relating to narcotics. As part of this activity, numerous and diversified control activities were carried out, including several roadblocks in the most strategic points from the point of view of road traffic and in the areas of greatest aggregation.

The service has achieved important results with the identification of almost a hundred people, 20 of whom were subjected to restrictive measures and about fifty vehicles. Over 10 fines were issued for confirmed violations of the Highway Code and 4 driving licenses were withdrawn.

Particular attention was paid to those subjects subjected to preventive measures or restrictive measures of personal freedom. During this activity, a 50-year-old from Salento was reported to the competent Judicial Authority, who, although subjected to the preventive measure of Special Surveillance with obligation to stay, attacked for trivial reasons a man to whom he caused personal injuries, while a 47-year-old who was instead under house arrest, during the course of a specific control, in violation of the obligations imposed, was not found at his home.

A worker, however, subjected to probation, was reported because he was presumed responsible for receiving stolen goods after he was found in possession of a van which, following investigations, turned out to have been stolen a few days earlier in Porto Cesareo.

A pensioner from Salento whose driving license was revoked was reported because he refused to undergo the required tests to verify his blood alcohol level while, A 23-year-old was caught driving his small car with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit so much so that, in addition to the withdrawal of his license, it also cost him a report to the competent Judicial Authority. Also paying the price was a 37-year-old nurse who, in addition to having been reported as presumed responsible for the illegal possession of objects capable of causing offence, refused to undergo tests to verify his blood alcohol level.

The service also involved the places of greatest aggregation. In this context, in fact, 3 recreational clubs were checked and in these circumstances 2 young people were reported to the competent Administrative Authority as presumed users of narcotic substances.
