As part of an inspection activity planned by theNational Labor Inspectorate – Central Directorate for Protection, Supervision and Safety at Work, the military of Labor Inspectorate of Lecce, together with the staff of the Territorial Directorate of Labor of Lecce, with the support ofTerritorial Weapon, have completed a significant monitoring activity carried out between October and November 2025.
The main purpose of the activity was to fight against irregular work, All 'illicit intermediation and caporalato, in addition to verifying compliance with current regulations regarding health and safety in the workplace.
During the inspections, the following were checked: 51 companies active in various sectors, including construction, commerce, and agritourism/restaurants. Following the irregularities discovered—including the employment of workers "in black" e serious safety violations – have been arranged 16 suspensions of business activities.
The competent authorities have also imposed fines totaling 220.000,00 euros e administrative fines of 63.500,00 euros. Overall, 40 people have been reported at large for any violations found, in accordance with current legislation.
The operation is part of a broader commitment to protect workers' rights and combat illegal practices that compromise the regularity of the labor market and the safety of working environments. The violations that emerged mainly concerned non-compliance with minimum safety requirements, Which: lack of training of workers, lack of adequate fire prevention measures, deficiencies in access to workplaces at height, lack of health surveillance, inadequate hygienic conditions, failure to draft the Operational Safety Plan e failure to update the Risk Assessment Document (RAD).
The activity will continue with further checks and targeted interventions to ensure compliance with regulations and the protection of the health and safety of all workers.
