Lecce: State Police conducting extraordinary checks throughout Salento.

Targeted operations in several cities, seizures, reports, and preventive measures from December 1st to 8th.

Lecce: State Police conducting extraordinary checks throughout Salento.

They continue to Lecce and province the extraordinary checks of the territory carried out by the State Police. Even during the past week, the State Police carried out extraordinary control services throughout the areas of the Salento territory. Police Chief of the Province of Lecce, Dr. Giampietro Lionetti, oversaw the preparation of specific services related to judicial police and prevention activities carried out in areas considered to have the highest crime density, with the involvement of various State Police departments, both information-investigative and operational.

The services were held in the city of Lecce, Gallipoli, Nardò, galatone, Taurisano e Presicce/Aquarica, with activities aimed at preventing predatory crimes, burglaries, and protecting sensitive targets such as post offices, banks, and commercial establishments, ensuring widespread and systematic surveillance of the area using patrol cars. The activities were planned during briefings explaining the operational methods and objectives.

In Lecce and the hinterland the crews have manned the railway station, Old Town, Leuca Street e Mazzini neighborhood, also checking the customers of two betting shops. Checks were also carried out in the areas of Racale, Nardò e galatone, where officers checked the whereabouts of numerous business customers. Additionally, a vehicle belonging to a 39-year-old woman was suspended from circulation for failing to have a valid vehicle inspection, and another was seized for lack of insurance.

In the period between December 1st and 8th, have been identified 2276 Guests and check yourself 1079 vehicles throughout the Salento area.

Several preventive measures have also been issued:
1) 5 measures DASPO for a period of one year against Barletta fans who, during the Coppa Italia Eccellenza final on 16.01.25, were responsible for throwing smoke bombs and were reported to the AG;
2) 3 oral notices.

A Gallipoli, the staff of the Police Station, the 6th December, intervened at the home of a 31enne who had requested help for an illness. The man was agitated, which he claimed was caused by cocaine use. The house search led to the discovery of 64 grams of hashish, 6 grams of marijuana, 1 gram of cocaine, precision balance, and in a common outdoor space 35 grams of marijuana.

In the closet they were found five sealed boxes containing pyrotechnic material in poor condition, over 9 kg, exceeding the legal limit of 5 kg. The intervention of the Brindisi bomb squad was necessary. All the material was seized, and the 31-year-old was charged at large with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking and illegal possession of fireworks.

A galatone, instead, following a request from the Local Police for a disturbing person, the staff of the Nardò Police Station identified a 38 year old from Ghana, recipient of a sentence execution order (9 months and 15 days) issued by the Bologna Public Prosecutor's Office for resisting arrest and aggravated personal injury. The man was taken to the Lecce prison.
