Isernia: Telephone scam alert, three scam attempts reported
In the last few days there have been three scam attempts reported via phone calls from fake police officers asking for money following the feared blocking of the unfortunate person's current account. The characteristic found is that the telephone number used by the scammers corresponds to that of the switchboard of the Isernia Highway Police Section 0865/473600. The scam is implemented through the software "Caller ID Spoofing" with which the telephone number is altered and the recipient of the call actually sees the telephone number of the Police Office, misleading him.
In this case, During the call, a fake Police Inspector asks for security reasons to send money via IBAN or other electronic payment methods.
The Isernia Police Headquarters informs all citizens that the State Police and other law enforcement agencies never ask anyone for money for any reason. Therefore, in the case of requests such as the one indicated, it is always necessary to avoid providing personal or banking data relating to current account numbers, credit cards or security codes.. In these cases, contact us immediately on the emergency number 113 to report the call received, which certainly hides an attempted scam.
