Scheduled from October 28th two free theater workshops in the hospital, dedicated to prevention in menopause and pregnancy and taboos on female health in these delicate phases of life, to promote greater self-awareness. Followed by a performance by and for women only, Unveil yourself, which leads to Carcano stage the female body. A provocation with clear implications: revealing oneself for women is a prelude to the cure of the taboos that sicken the soul and the diseases that attack the bodies. Holding the threads of this ambitious project is the playwright, director and actress Silvia Gallerano, which returns to investigate the truths revealed by getting naked on stage after the experience of the show Cristian Ceresoli's shit which he filled for 10 years theaters throughout Italy.

Women's health goes on stage is a virtuous and innovative project that exploits the power of theatrical art and its experiential language to promote women's health. An opportunity to take important clinical advice on prevention, diagnosis and treatment out of the hospital, and an opportunity to bring theperformance art outside the theater as an effective educational tool capable of positively influencing people. A commitment strengthened by data: although prevention is a key factor for safeguarding women's health, a large part of Italian women have not undergone screening for cancer, heart disease, diabetes or sexually transmitted diseases/infections in the last year. Without forgetting that, in recent years, the incidence of tumors has increased. The most frequent in 2022 for women: breast cancer (55.700 cases), of the colorectal (22.100) of the lung (14.600) of the endometrium (10.200) and thyroid cancer (8.700)

A happy union between the Humanitas center for her, which with multidisciplinary teams and personalized clinical paths guarantees quality and safety of care with attention to the specific health needs of women at every stage of life, and the Carcan Theater, directed from 2021 by three courageous women, which is preparing to start the new season keeping alive one of the strong points that has characterized the programming by the new artistic direction: the particular attention to female gaze, for interpretation and theme.
The first workshop, scheduled Saturday October 28 at the Humanitas center for her, it will be dedicated to menopause, an important passage in every woman's life, often associated with the idea of subtraction, the loss of fertility, sexuality and energy. A “minus” that actually hides many “pluses”, many opportunities to seize to face it in the best possible way, with a new balance and a new quality of life.
The second laboratory is instead planned Saturday 18 November, always in the hospital, and will be aimed at mothers and future mothers, who will be able to face anxieties and fears through an experience of movement, acting, listening and comparison with their laboratory partners. The most interesting ideas that emerged during the workshops will then be collected by the director Silvia Gallerano and shared through constant updating of the show's script Unveil yourself, on stage at the Carcano Theater in Milano from 8 to 11 February 2024. Eight actresses on stage, only female bodies for an all-female audience, so as not to contaminate the ritual of common feeling from which the catharsis promoted by the theater is born. A research path dedicated to women to regain possession of space denied by patriarchy. And to do this we can only talk about the body, revealing it, even physically. A real happening, unique and original, to explore female identity at three hundred and sixty degrees.

Only female bodies: this is the experiment.
It's a call. Whoever feels like it answers. It's not for everyone. It's for anyone who wants to meet us. We don't show ourselves like zoo animals. We welcome those who are interested in mirroring themselves. There are words. Many. Which cover, which protect the bodies. And then there are the bodies. Just as we look at them in the mirror when we wake up. Before disguising them to walk among others. You know when they say: imagine a person who scares you while they are naked. To dismantle it. To see that it is made up of the same pieces that make up you. Here, we really undress. We show all our pieces. And as our bodies shown in pieces, so the work presents itself. A composition of paintings, made of images and words. A succession of stages, to get to assemble the right piecesto find a place for it. To find him vision. Unveiling yourself is a swing between a sense of invasion, a lack of space, a compression, on the one hand; the power, the overflow, the overwhelming laughter, on the other. The patriarchal culture that still surrounds us teaches women, since we were little, to limit one's desires for power, to accept invasions of the field by the opposite sex (where the field is the body), to stand aside and often explode out of a sense of constraint.

We start from different experiences that have a common note: of humiliation, of mutilation, of invisibility. Put together, all these experiences show themselves for what they are: simple abuses, often petty. You can see them tragicomic contours, you learn to laugh about it and respond with a power that has not been quelled. The work of writing is a shared work: each actress has written her presence in this work with words or with her own body. Writing is not just about words, rather it is above all a writing about bodies. Words are sometimes deceptions, the noise of the usual: the bodies, in these moments of unveiling, reveal the true essence, the unarticulated but present discourse. Unveiling yourself is a journey of research. This is why it is aimed at an audience exclusively of women (cis, trans and non-binary). All those who feel and define themselves as women. It's not about creating a safe space for those on stage, but about investigate what happens to the similar bodies of those who assist, wondering if your own body resonates more deeply with what you see, naked, on stage.
