We are also History: Women of the Resistance in Lecco
An important exhibition at the Palazzo Comunale in Lecco to celebrate the fundamental role of women in the Lecco Resistance, with events and testimonies to support historical memory.
We are also History: Women of the Resistance in Lecco.
It will be set up from the 9 23 November on the first floor of the town hall in Piazza Diaz 1 the exhibition “History is also us! Women of the Resistance of the Lecco area”.
The exhibition is part of a path promoted by Anpi Lecco with the aim of investigating and recognizing the important role of women in the Resistance in our territory. Among the other initiatives organized for this purpose we also find the institutional ceremony promoted by the Municipality of Lecco with the laying of the stumbling stone in the San Giovanni district in memory of Emma Casati from last May, the convivial meeting held in via Cavour “The scent of Carlotta's Kouglof” with the reenactment of the story of a woman arrested in Milano for the strikes of 1944 and deported, created in June with Udi, Pasticceria su misura, Anpi Giambellino and the cultural centre I Rabdomanti di Milano, as well as, again in June, the meeting with testimonies of family members and relatives “Partisans and deportees.
Lecco women in the Resistance held at the Chamber of Labor of Lecco in collaboration with Udi, Tavola lecchese per la pace, Pio Galli association and Anpi Pino Galbani of Lecco.
Thus the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Lecco Simona Piazza: “Thanks to the provincial Anpi of Lecco and to the Lecco section of the Udi, Unione Donne Italiane, to the cultural association Punto Rosso and to our Simul, for this beautiful exhibition of historical documentary character, which recalls and valorizes the active presence of women in the context of the Resistance, makes known their faces, their names and makes their active participation, an important example of how women, often forgotten, have instead played a key, active and leading role, contributing to the liberation of our country.".
From the historical reconstruction process, it emerges more and more the richness of the contribution given by women to the Resistance, their commitment in all areas, including armed actions, in the work of information, supply and liaison, in propaganda, in the transport of weapons and ammunition, in the health and hospital organization, in the Red Aid, in the Women's Defense Groups, in the support of families in difficulty due to the absence of their husbands fighting in the mountains and more generally in material aid to the community, for civilian clothing and real sustenance.
The exhibition, already set up in spring by the Anpi section of Brianza Meratese, is enriched, in Lecco, with further biographies and images of the Lecco partisans, for a work of in-depth study and research that continues. The exhibition will be presented in the council chamber on Friday 8 November at 17.30 pm. At the moment, the deputy mayor and councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Lecco Simona Piazza will speak, as will Liliana Rota of the Anpi section of Brianza Meratese, the university student Andrea Donato, Raffaella Cerrato of the Udi of Lecco and, with a focus on the theme "Volunteers of freedom, women who have chosen", the historical researcher of the Udi Rosangela Pesenti.
