Saturday 5 October 2024 at 17 pm both at Municipal Art Gallery – Sforza Castle of Vigevano (Pavia), inauguration “RED Day and Night“, a personal exhibition of Gianni Mantovani which will remain set up until the 27 October and will be open to the public at the following times: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 14pm to 17,30pm while the Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 18pm.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Municipality of Vigevano, and by the Associations LEGAMBIENTE, FAI, WWF.
The Mayor will be present at the inauguration Andrea Ceffa, the Councillor for Culture Richard Ghia, the Environment Councillor Daniel Simple and the Presidents of the Associations.
The Exhibition
The exhibition of Gianni Mantovani, with critical notes by Edward Maffeo "Gianni Mantovani: the poetry of emotions“, sees paintings inspired by environmental themes on display, testifying to the Modena artist’s sensitivity towards Nature. Landscapes, flowers and nature are represented through primary and essential forms that feed on memories and a dreamy vision.

The titles chosen by Gianni Mantovani for some of the works on display (Even the stars love each other, Believing makes us live better, We are the light of dawn, Amazed by the beauty of creation, Playing among the clouds, Suspended horizons, I look at creation and see God's smile, The great beauty of nature, The sun speaks to us in silence) concern the feelings of life, dreams and a confident and hopeful vision of creation.
The Artist
Gianni Mantovani lives in Concordia (Modena) where he was born in 1950 and after completing his artistic studies in Modena and Bologna at the age of 23 he began teaching at the Liceo Artistico in Bologna and after winning the national competition in 1991 he was a Painting Teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
Numerous le international solo and group exhibitions held in public and private spaces including: Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Cristinerose Gallery in New York, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, Smith's Galleries in London, Galleria Mazzocchi in Parma, “Casa Cini” Cultural Institute in Ferrara, Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin, Galleria Comunale in Angoulême (France), University of Poreč (Croatia), Castello dei Pio in Carpi, Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna, Palazzo d'Accursio in Bologna, Galleria Unimediamodern in Genoa.
