Ensure the cycle connection between the station area and the university in Viale Margherita, the new Court in Borgo Berga and the Casarotto cycle path of the Riviera Berica is the objective of the new stretch of cycle path being built in recent months along Viale Risorgimento.
It is a runway with a total length of 620 metres, from viale Dalmazia to viale Margherita.
«The intervention – recalls the councilor for mobility, transport and infrastructure Cristiano Spiller – contributes to completing the network of cycle paths in urban areas, in a particularly interesting area for both city and tourist mobility. The new track also solves an important problem linked to the safety of cyclists on a very busy, multi-lane road."
The work began a few weeks ago, with the expectation of lasting approximately six months. In recent days the cycle and pedestrian access ramp from Contra' Santa Caterina has been completed and asphalted. In the meantime, work is being done on widening the existing pavement, raised above the road level of Viale Risorgimento, with redefinition of the width of the road lanes in the sections alongside the new cycle/pedestrian path. A retreat of the fence and border wall in correspondence with the former church of S. Silvestro is also planned.
The works will then be carried out finishing and completion, such as horizontal and vertical road signs and protective devices.
The total cost of the work amounts to 400 thousand euros.
The intervention is financed under the Pnrr as an urban ring to complete the supporting cycle paths - viale Risorgimento (Mission 5, component 2, intervention 2.1).
