On World Tree Day, which falls every year on November 21st, the Associations Park comes to life. In the municipal property area of about two hectares, adjacent to the Retrone Park and accessible from via Caregaro Negrin, the planting of 1200 trees began yesterday: one for each association of the Service Center for Volunteering of the Province of Vicenza (CSV). The project for the new park, promoted by the environmental councilor Sara Baldinato, was curated by Diego Pellizzaro of Beleafing srl, with the support of Roberto Fiorentin, head of the Veneto Agricoltura Plant Biodiversity Center. Sponsor of the initiative is AFV Beltrame Group. To present the initiative, in addition to Sara Baldinato, Diego Pellizzaro and Roberto Fiorentin, the vice president of AFV Beltrame Group Patrizia Beltrame with Giovan Battista Landra (Group Sustainability & Environment Director) and the director of the CSV Rita Dal Molin were present in the green area adjacent to Parco Retrone.

«The idea of redeveloping this uncultivated municipal area was born in 2023 together with Beleafing - has explained the environmental councillor Sara Baldinato -. With Diego Pellizzaro and then with the fundamental indications of Roberto Fiorentin of Veneto Agricoltura we thought of reproducing in this area the ancient conformation, with meadows alternating with trees, of the landscape of the Veneto countryside, fully respecting the green architecture of the Parco del Retrone which is in close adherence. In the design phase, we paid particular attention to pollinating insects, selecting the most suitable shrub species and dividing the area into plots to be used as a flower field, "friends" of bees, or as a green area for citizens. In this way the area is made accessible to citizens without compromising biodiversity. We are thinking of integrating the project with some beehives as well, it would truly be a sort of "circular economy" of nature and a worthy completion of the park».

«I think it is our duty as a company to continue to make our contribution to support the territory and the communities in which we operate. - commented AFV Beltrame Group Vice President Patrizia Beltrame -. We can do this in practice by investing in innovative technologies, networking along the entire value chain, rethinking the direction of our growth plans towards new development directions. The Beltrame Group has been doing all this for some time, putting sustainability at the center, as an opportunity, of course, but also as a social responsibility that it feels strongly towards its stakeholders. And I would say that this “Parco delle associazioni” project goes precisely in this direction and is certainly a good example of it.».

The project

1200 plants will be planted among trees and shrubs. To favor the life of pollinators, medium and tall species have been selected: in 10 meters there will be an alternation, with an interdistance of one meter, of a tall tree, four shrubs, a medium-sized tree and another four shrubs.

To recreate the ancient landscape of the Venetian countryside, the area was divided into fields, varying in size from 20 to 30 metres wide, using hedges and rows of trees, just as it used to be done in the past. Furthermore, the area intended for flower meadow (10.300 square meters), where grass and flowers will be left to grow to be used by bees, will be separated from the “fruit” area. (9000 square meters), that is, walkable and accessible to citizens and therefore characterized by more frequent mowing. In both areas, native flowers will be sown to encourage their development.

The planting of the various species and maintenance for the next two years will be handled by Beleafing srl. AFV Beltrame Group supported the purchase of plants, the interventions of preparing the land, planting and sowing the flowers and will take charge of emergency irrigation and the replacement of any faults over the next two years.
