Vicenza: Biennial of Short Film, the fourth edition from 2 to 7 October.

The fourth edition of Vicenza Biennial of International Short Film and Video, to be held 2 from October to 7, at the Astra Theater and also at the Palazzo del Monte di Pietà, was presented at the Odeo of the Olimpico Theater by the councilor for culture, tourism and attractiveness of the city Ilaria Fantin and by the artistic director Luca Dal Molin.

Organized by Is Art and directed by Luca Dal Molin, the exhibition proposes the knowledge and diffusion of international short films through the viewing of the works and with meetings and focuses with Italian and foreign directors.

«We are happy to host the Short Film Biennial in our city, an important opportunity to make this expressive form more and more known – underlines the councilor for culture, tourism and the city's attractiveness Ilaria Fantin -. Vicenza confirms itself as a city of festivals with excellence in many fields of culture: from music to theater to illustration and cinema. Now in its fourth edition, the Biennale also offers the opportunity to participate in meetings with directors and actors and events on the history of cinema. I therefore thank the organizers and the artistic director for this important event."

«In an area like that of Vicenza – continues the artistic director Luca Dal Molin – which has seen important directors and actors pass by, such as Ermanno Olmi, Virgilio Scapin, Vitaliano Trevisan, Matteo Garrone, Ettore Scola, today we are here to continue to make people discover the world of short films. The most widespread comparison starts from literature: the short film is to the story as the feature film is to the novel; this distinction which defines its measure gives us an account, however, only of its most logical meaning of "short form" and tells us little about the expressive form. The history of cinema begins with the short film. If the duration of the first films is necessarily determined by the technical limits of the time, it is however true that they possess the most peculiar characteristics of the short film: experimentation and freedom. And so, in contemporary reality, the short film is configured as an "expanded and unlimited" experience"
