Vicenza, new library in the city: the series of meetings 'Fare Assieme' is underway.
A participatory process will start at the end of October with a view to the creation of the new Bertoliana library. Promoted by the Municipality of Vicenza and Bertoliana, in collaboration with the Sintesi Aps association and with the patronage of Indire (National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research), the initiative is called “Doing Together. A New Library”, precisely to underline the active and transversal involvement of the citizens in one of the largest and most anticipated projects of the city of Vicenza, for the urban, social and cultural transformation that it will bring with it.
«Through these first three meetings - highlights Alessandra Lanaro, vice-president of Bertoliana and curator of the initiative - we want to imagine together spaces and ways of experiencing the new library, we will investigate the complex connections that are established between people and the city, and we will start a reflection on the importance of the multifunctionality of the new library as the driving force of the vitality of Vicenza».
The first of three meetings open to citizens – which will be held at Palazzo Cordellina, in Contra' Riale 12, the representative office of Bertoliana – is scheduled Monday 28 October at 19pm with the title “Towards an inclusive city”: a welcoming city is realized through its places and their accessibility and the gaze of women can become a source of great creative stimulus. After the opening speeches by the mayor Giacomo Possamai, the president and vice president of Bertoliana, Alberto Galla and Alessandra Lanaro, and the president of the Sintesi association, Francesca Carli, Isabella Sala, deputy mayor of Vicenza and president of the Equal Opportunities Council, Elena Bonetti, former minister for equal opportunities and the family, and Elena Granata, professor of urban planning and author of the book “Il senso delle donne per la città” (The sense of women for the city) will speak.
The second meeting is instead scheduled for Friday 22 November at 18.30pm, with the title “Inhabiting educational spaces”: the alliance between school and city can generate new educational, social and cultural architectures; and today more than ever, opening up to this collaborative vision seems to be a fundamental step to govern changes in the territories. Speakers will include Giovanni Selmo, Councilor for Education of the Municipality of Vicenza, Francesca Carli and Stefano Coquinati, pedagogist, in dialogue with Elena Mosa and Lorenza Orlandini, Indire researchers.
The last meeting of this first cycle will be held in January 2025 (the date is being defined) with the title “Freedom is participation”: we will reflect on the involvement of young people and on what time and space they need to become protagonists of their time, with the participation of Alberto Pellai, psychotherapist, researcher and writer, who will take this opportunity to present his book “Training for life”.
