The White Night, spread throughout the historic center, will have the main squares as its focus: Piazza Duomo, Contra' Garibaldi, Piazza San Lorenzo, Piazza Castello, Piazza dei Signori.
Vicenza: from September 13th to 15th the Notte Bianca returns with events, shows and museums open until late.
They are expected over 100 thousand people at the White Night in Vicenza. In these days the Municipality of Vicenza, Confcommercio Vicenza and the Piazze Beriche Association are busy organizing the event in the best possible way, which for three days, Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, it will bring music of all kinds to the historic center, initiatives for adults and children, a market of handmade products and refreshment areas.
Today the councilor for major events Leone Zilio, the councilor for economic development and territory Cristina Balbi, the councilor for culture, tourism and attractiveness of the city Ilaria Fantin, the councilor for youth policies Leonardo Nicolai, the councilor for heritage and the environment Sara Baldinato and Luigi Franceschetto of the Piazze Beriche Association announced new contents and illustrated some organizational aspects.
«The White Night will be an event spread throughout the historic center with a formula that will recall the National Alpine Gathering which has distinguished us as a city prepared from a logistical point of view to welcome a particularly large audience – declares the councilor for major events Leone Zilio -. Over the three days of celebration, the arrival of over 100 thousand people is expected to crowd the city starting from the afternoon, even if large numbers will be seen towards the evening, therefore I invite residents to move around on foot and not use the car in the time slots after 18pm and until the end of the event".
«The White Night will involve the traders of the historic center who will have the opportunity to keep their shops open on the evenings of the event – the councilor for economic development and territory Cristina Balbi spoke -. Furthermore, bars and restaurants will have the possibility of installing a stapler in their stalls and with the collaboration of Confcommercio they are preparing a program of concerts which will integrate the initiatives planned for the event for which they have great expectations regarding the success and involvement of the public even from outside the city. For some venues it will be necessary to remodel the stalls to make room for the entertainment areas in the squares."
«To enrich the already extensive program of the White Night there will also be the cultural offer of the civic museums. Some locations, in fact, will remain open for extended hours with the possibility of also seeing the exhibitions set up as will happen for the Palladian Basilica with Illustri Festival and naturally the terrace will be available - explained the councilor for culture, tourism and attractiveness of the city Ilaria Fantin -. And then Palazzo Chiericati with an event for children, Palazzo Thiene and also the Bertoliana Library with the Illustri Festival exhibitions and other initiatives."
«Being present in so many councilors is unusual, but it is the only way to not only talk about big events but about big events, which are attractive and also bearers of values – concluded the councilor for youth policies Leonardo Nicolai – . So not only music, but also culture with readings, exhibitions, museums, entertainment for children and then attention to environmental heritage and involvement in activities and venues. Furthermore, youth policies launch the proposal to fill the stages from 18pm to 21pm, before the evening performances and to offer them to under 35 who can apply to play or propose artistic performances. Even those who have never performed on stage will therefore have the opportunity to do so without incurring any expense, subject to evaluation by the organization. Here we are able to make use of what we already have, in this case stage and amplification, to involve the youth world. Also soon – Nicolai specifies -. We will also present the SpazInsoliti program which will give opportunities to discover the city starting in the afternoon."
«As Section 1 Historic Center of Confcommercio Vicenza – said vice president Claudio Perini – we have invited shops and public establishments to be an active part of this “White Night”, because we believe it is an excellent opportunity to enhance the commercial offer, restaurants and bars operating in the heart of the city. I think all the ingredients are there to make it an attractive event, with an eye also on the young target. However, it will be an event for everyone, as demonstrated by the very detailed programme, to which will also be added a specific initiative of ours, currently being defined, aimed at families and especially the little ones, in synergy with the museum system".

SILENT BOOK CLUB at the former greenhouses of Querini park
The welcome Silent book club initiative of the heritage and environment department with the Bertoliana Library is proposed again at the former greenhouses of Querini park. Saturday 14 September, from 18.30pm to 19.30pm, you can share an hour of reading, in silence, outdoors; This will be followed from 19.30pm to 20pm by sharing and exchanging reading tips with the librarians present and Cristina Berardo from the Lettori Parlanti reading group.
At the appointment it will be enough carry your book under your arm and perhaps a blanket or pillow: in fact, seats will be available, but it will also be possible to sit and read directly on the lawn, in front of the former greenhouses.
«It was a real surprise to see so many people participate in the first meeting of the Silent Book Club of Vicenza, held last July 25th. A simple meeting, but evidently engaging and attractive. Beyond all expectations and predictions, for the first time one of the most evocative places in the city brought together so many people, in total silence, committed to reading – comments the councilor for heritage and environment Sara Baldinato -. We thought we would propose an alternative within the White Night, offering a different, silent but equally aggregative modality. This is also a way in which we give new life to the former greenhouses, awaiting the definitive conclusion of the works."
«The Bertoliana Library immediately and enthusiastically promoted Councillor Baldinato's proposal to create a Silent Book Club in Vicenza – said the president of the Bertoliana Library Alberto Galla -. It is a healthy and original idea to promote reading, one that requires time and concentration, one that grows aware and critical citizens. Silence is a wonderful act that allows us to come into contact with ourselves but also with others, in a supportive and respectful way. In a Silent Book Club first of all we read alone but together, then you can discuss the books you read and exchange opinions and reading advice. An opportunity to meet other readers, to share the same passion for books, and to then go to the library to look for these books."
