Vicenza and Pigafetti Week: awards for international Vicenza companies.
In the heart of Pigafetti Week which Vicenza dedicates for the first time to the figure of Antonio Pigafetta, Saturday 19 October will be awarded seven companies from Vicenza who have distinguished themselves for their ability to be international.
The ceremony will be held at 18 pm at the Teatro Olimpico, with free admission until all available seats are taken, upon reservation at premiopigafetta@vi.camcom.it.
Established by the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the internationalization capacity of Vicenza companies, the 2024 Pigafetta Award will be presented in collaboration with the Municipality of Vicenza and the Vicentini nel Mondo organization, with the aim of enhancing what has always been a peculiar characteristic of the production system of Vicenza, the third province in Italy for exports in absolute value, second only to Milano and Turin.
The award includes two categories. The Pigafetta Impresa Award will be awarded to six companies from Vicenza that have distinguished themselves in the field of business internationalization and to a company created and managed by an emigrant from Vicenza in one of the countries visited by Antonio Pigafetta on his trip around the world.
The Pigafetta Traveler Award will also be presented to a man from Vicenza who, with his work, promoted and made Vicenza known throughout the world, emulating the determined and creative spirit of the navigator Pigafetta.
During the Pigafetti Week, which takes place from 17 to 24 October, the great navigator, geographer and writer from Vicenza who accompanied Magellan on the first trip around the world will be the subject of study meetings, conferences, book presentations and guided tours.
The initiative is promoted by Municipality of Vicenza in collaboration with the Pigafetta National Committee, the Olympic Academy, the Gallerie d'Italia – Vicenza, the Vicenza Chamber of Commerce, the Civic Museums of Vicenza, the Pigafetta 500 Cultural Association, the Bertoliana Civic Library, the Illustri Association, the La Vigna International Library and the Vicentini nel Mondo Association.
