Strong support from the Gender Equality Department

Verona, the “Tu donna” festival returns: shows from October to April.

The theater as a place and instrument of extraordinary communication to stimulate conscience, a sense of responsibility and the urgency of reflecting together on the role of women in society and on the most current issues in which she is the protagonist.

It happens at Modus, in Verona, where the exhibition returns “You woman”, a series of shows whose common thread is the centrality of the female figure and the reflection on important themes such as the condition of women, stereotypes and gender violence.

Until April, shows and events to explore the female universe through the different languages of the scene, also on display Antonella Questa at the Camploy Theater for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

We start on Friday 6 October with “Freefly. Confessions on the unbearable need for admiration”, already a finalist at the Finge Festival in Milano and semi-finalist at the 2023 Scenario Prize.

The initiative was born in collaboration with the Ve.GA Association (Veronesi Giuriste Associate) and the Convergenze Association, and with the contribution and patronage ofDepartment of Gender Equality of the Municipality of Verona, to which is added that of Consultation of the Women's Associations of the Municipality of Verona.

«It is now a tradition for the Municipality of Verona to support this cultural journey within the Modus schedule, a cultural journey that deals with the female world in an attempt to affirm and disseminate what we carry forward as a culture of difference – says the deputy mayor and councilor for gender equality Barbara Bissoli -. There is a female genius that concerns the artistic world that this exhibition wants to underline. Gender violence can stop if we all feel involved in this fundamental action and theater is an extraordinary mode of communication that the municipal administration can only support the value of this expressive form".

«Our proposal for this year is a wide-ranging event that embraces various themes linked to the female universe, with strong accents dedicated to violence against women and issues relating to rights and opportunities but also cultural elements detracting from the figure of women - comments the artistic director of Modus Spazio Cultura Andrea Castelletti -. I thank the Municipality of Verona in the person of the Councilor and Deputy Mayor Barbara Bissoli for the fundamental support and contribution to this important initiative. This year too, in order to face the moment of economic difficulty with an increase in the cost of all expenditure items, we will not fail in our commitment to offer our territory high-quality events while keeping ticket prices unchanged, also giving the possibility to spend even less with the new open subscription formulas, i.e. being able to choose the shows to your taste from those proposed on the billboard".

The review covers a large period, from October to April, including the two highlights of the year for the Gender Equality Department: November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and March 8, International Day for Women's Rights and Peace in the world. The presentation of the program was attended by Elisabetta Baldo, Marica Preto and Laura Murari, each involved in the implementation of the initiative.

Although energy costs increase the running costs of the theatre, Modus confirms the prices of previous years (full €12; reduced €10 reserved for university students and the many affiliated companies listed on the site; extra reduced €5 for under 20s and nationalities other than Italian), the Fideliscard has also been confirmed, offering free shows to regular spectators and subscriptions to 5 or 10 shows of your choice. As usual, the reduced ticket is reserved for members of all the associations that are part of the Council of Women's Associations of the Municipality of Verona.
