The summer heat does not stop the activity of libraries that even during the summer they offer numerous activities not to be missed to keep young readers trained.

Summer Books Ideas is the project dedicated to the little ones, with Summer reading suggestions divided by school classes from I to V primary school and a specific band for children aged 11 to 14.

Once you have finished reading, the young readers can participate in the Giocalettura in summer with the Bibliolimpiade: enough collect the postcard at your favorite library, take it with you on holidays and mark the completed challenges. At the end of the summer, the postcard must be returned to the library with a special dedication.

He will be leaving soon the proposal World Travel in 80 Books, created thanks to the support of the children of the Universal Civil Service. The Library users will be able to discover "packages" of fiction books dedicated to various tourist destinations.

Events in the Civic Library

Until the end of August, the Civic Library hosts two very important exhibitions.
In the windows of the Ragazzi Library on Via Cappello the projects of Drawing the future are exhibited, in collaboration with the San Zeno Foundation.

The Designing the Future project has been operating in Verona and its province for nine years, offering a dynamic education that promotes the personal development of students, in line with the principles established by the UN Convention on the Rights of Children and Adolescents. The initiative aims to ensure social inclusion and high-quality education for all students, strengthening life skills and promoting active and inclusive teaching methodologies.

The exhibition is conceived with the aim of enhancing the works created by the students of the classes “Designing the Future” di some primary and secondary schools of the comprehensive institutions of the network: IC 5 Santa Lucia, IC 19 Santa Croce, IC Borgo Stadium Milano, IC Madonna di Campagna, IC Bardolino leader of the Drawing the Future network.

In Protomotheca, iinstead, the books of the Chimera Workshop are visible by Gino Castiglioni and Alessandro Corubolo, published in the press from 1960 to 2023.

Among the events to promote reading, we note the meeting of Tuesday 30 July at 20.45pm in the Cloister of the Civic Library, in collaboration with the Circolo dei Lettori of Verona. Simonetta Bitasi, active reading professional on social media such as “walking_reader”, will present the books and authors of the next edition of the Mantua Literature Festival.

Finally, Of note is the literary initiative After Juliet, created by the Estate Teatrale Veronese – Municipality of Verona and the Juliet Club. Aspiring writers are invited to try their hand at a short story that begins where Shakespeare's famous story ends, with a contemporary sensibility. The Juliet Club will select three works that will be awarded at the Roman Theatre on July 18.
