Verona, Road Safety Education Festival 2024: Almost 500 Children Present

The rain did not stop yesterday's eagerly awaited celebration at the conclusion of the activities carried out during the school year. All the classes were present and participated in the activities with games, quizzes and information sessions on road safety and sustainability.

The pouring rain did not stop the “Traffic education festival” which yesterday morning saw Piazza Bra transformed into a lively carpet of colorful umbrellas and rubber boots.

All 25 expected classes were present, with almost 500 girls and boys who enthusiastically participated in the proposed activities, testing their knowledge of road safety through games, quizzes and information moments.

The party was an opportunity for the little ones participants to become local police officers for a day, getting on motorbikes, activating the sirens and exploring the vehicles of the Fire Brigade.

Furthermore, I am topics were covered such as proper waste disposal, with a quiz on separate waste collection, and the importance of sustainable lifestyles, with the formula of “learning while having fun”.

At the end of the event, the schools present they withdrew the coveted certificate to be proudly displayed in classrooms, evidence of the road safety education courses undertaken.

The 46th edition of the educational project of the Local Police of Verona confirmation the Administration's commitment to promoting civic education courses teaching the fundamental rules of road safety, both on foot and by bicycle.

“There is no greater satisfaction in seeing the joy with which the little ones approach legality to become responsible citizens of tomorrow - commented the Security Councilor - Their enthusiasm heartens the commitment of the Security Department and the Local Police and repays the numerous efforts put in place for the education and training activities and projects that are carried out in the area every year. These young people represent the hope of a more aware future, where respect for the rules and rights of every individual is the basis of civil coexistence".

The Verona Local Police project covers all school age groups, from nursery school to primary school, with Practical activities that allow children to earn their driving license “good pedestrian" and “good cyclist”.

The aim is to train future road users from a young age, underlining the importance of adopting responsible responsible behavior because you don't mess around on the street.

Verona was among the first cities in Italy to recognize the importance of entering schools to explain the rules of the road code, starting a legality training project in the 50s, strengthened in recent years by the Local Police Commander Luigi Altamura. Thanks also to a specific platform dedicated to school managers and teachers, lessons take place both in the classroom and through initiatives in parks and fair events, making Verona a national point of reference.

The following schools participated in the final party in Piazza Bra: Agli Angeli boarding school, Leonardi primary school, Arcobaleno nursery school, Provolo primary school, Stimate primary school, Buttapietra primary school, Casa dei Bambini Le Coccinelle nursery school, Seghetti primary school, De Amicis primary school, S nursery school Joseph.

The initiative saw collaboration of AMIA, ATV, Zuegg, Bauli, Acque Veronesi, the Faculty of Motor Sciences of the University of Verona and the Academy of Circus Arts.
