Verona, new Luci Sospese project: the survey to choose the phrases that will illuminate the city is underway.

The verses of Dante Alighieri and William Shakespeare they will become the focal points of a new cultural experience, proposed for the first time by the Municipality from 1 December 2024 to 28 February 2025 in various streets of the city centre and neighbourhoods.
From 4th to 12th November on the website and social channels of the Municipality of Verona and on the Visit Verona portal, the citizens of Verona will be able to contribute to the selection of the verses.

'Love, which pardons no one loved from loving.' Or, 'Sweet is the dawn that illuminates lovers.' These are some of the more or less famous phrases, about twenty in total, identified among the texts of the great poets Dante Alighieri and William Shakespeare and that from today, citizens will be able to vote to make them the first 'Suspended Lights' of Verona, the innovative project of light installations designed to expand and diversify the tourist offer of Verona.

The most voted phrases will be installed from December 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025 in via Caserma Ospital Vecchio, a stone's throw from the Christmas market venue; Stradone Provolo in the San Zeno district; Camaldolese Church in Avesa; Church of the Blessed Virgin of Borgo Nuovo; Sanmicheliana Church of Madonna di Campagna; Pantheon of Santa Maria in Stelle; former town hall in Piazza Righetti in Quinzano.

The goal is to create a cultural path to rediscover less central places but of great interest for visitors. Verona, already a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will thus be able to further express its artistic and cultural identity, enriching the experience of visitors and stimulating the interest of residents.

Voting is open until 12 November at 12:94258 at the link https://www.comune.verona.it/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=XNUMX.

Every citizen can vote up to 3 sentences.

The project is conceived and promoted by the Municipality of Verona, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, AGSM Aim Smart Solutions and other local associations, with the support of the communications company Studio Mezzopieno, responsible for following its development and promotion. The project also involved Professor Sidia Fiorato, an expert on Shakespeare, and Professor Paolo Pellegrini, a Dante scholar, both from the University of Verona, who helped in the pre-selection of the sentences to be submitted to public voting during the contest, ensuring their philological and linguistic correctness.

“The project goes beyond the confines of the historic centre and aims to enhance less touristy areas of the city - highlights Councilor for Culture and Tourism Marta Ugolini –. The aim is to strengthen the attractiveness of the city, but also to create an authentic experience for those who visit and live in Verona. Furthermore, a more harmonious distribution of tourist flows is encouraged, thanks to an artistic lighting system in the lesser-known and less frequented streets and squares of Verona. The project is carried out in synergy with the citizens, who will vote on the phrases through a survey”.

The project was presented yesterday morning in the presence of Andrea Ferrarese of AGSM Smart Solutions and Elena Caricasole of the Mezzopieno company.
