Verona: 'Matitone 2024: Games without Barriers' returns in the name of inclusion and awareness

The third edition, promoted by the association of Social Promotion - SDV, with the patronage of the Municipality of Verona and the contribution of Amia and the University of Verona, will be held on Saturday 7 September, starting at 10 am at Forte Chievo, via Bionde 61.

Verona: 'Matitone 2024: Games without Barriers' returns in the name of inclusion and awareness.

At Forte Chievo returns 'Matitone 2024: Games without Barriers' with a day full of activities celebrating inclusion and active participation of people with and without disabilities. The third edition, promoted by the Social Promotion Association – SDV, with the patronage of the Municipality of Verona and the contribution of Amia and the University of Verona, is held Saturday 7 September, starting at 10am at Forte Chievo, via Bionde 61.

A series of activities are planned that will range from inclusive games to musical shows, with the participation of local DJs and bands. The highlight of the day will be the “Pencil's Thread“, an institutional reflection on the importance of welcoming and valuing diversity, followed by the awarding of all participants. Access and participation in the games are free., with food and drinks available for purchase.

“The Matitone 2024 event – explains the councilor for social policies Luisa Ceni – represents a unique opportunity to celebrate inclusion and collaboration, inviting the entire community to participate and support this important social initiative. The aim is in fact to break down barriers, encouraging meeting and sharing between people of all abilities. Matitone has a strong impact of inclusion and awareness of the territory, which are two fundamental elements for the Administration”.

Founded in 1996 the Social Promotion Association “SDV” It is one of the most significant entities in the Verona area for social promotion and the organization of events that aim to encourage integration and volunteering. With over 300 active members, the association is engaged in cultural, artistic and recreational activities, promoting the culture of solidarity and civic participation.

In addition to SDV, the following organizations participate in the organization: AGBD – Down Syndrome Parents Association, Judo in Harmony – Onlus that has adapted Judo to children and young people experiencing the difficulties of autism, Happy Hours and SiAmoIClown. All organizations that are committed daily to supporting and integrating people with disabilities.

“Pencil – declares Giulio Verzini, SDV association councilor and Matitone event referent – is synonymous with inclusion. The event aims to create a large extended family where differences are eliminated and the abilities of each individual are valued. Through recreational activities and games, organized by the Department of Neuroscience, Biomedicine and Movement of the University of Verona, the aim is to build a network of positive relationships between participants. With Matitone 2024 SDV continues to trace a path of inclusion and awareness, aiming for results that go beyond the simple event, but that create a lasting impact in the community”.

In addition to SDV, the organization sees the participation of AGBD Associazione Genitori Sindrome di Down and JUDO IN ARMONIA, a non-profit organization that has adapted Judo to children and young people experiencing the difficulties of autism, Happy Hours and SiAmoIClown, all organizations committed daily to supporting and integrating people with disabilities.

As a symbol of the event, a backpack containing gadgets will be distributed, information brochures and a message of thanks for participation, to further spread the inclusive spirit of the Matitone.

The event was presented this morning, also attended by Luigina Desopo president of the Judo in Armonia association and Consiglia Palumbo president of the Siamo i Clown association.
