"The San Giò Festival is once again promoted by the Municipality of Verona – underlines councilor Alessia Rotta –. An important sign of recognition for what is an institution among institutions and which has brought high-level personalities to Verona without the need for red carpets. It is not only these 29 years that represent the value of the work done, but the fact that the festival has characteristics that make it important for the life of the city, in terms of depth, autonomy and independence. Cinema involved in many aspects."
“The Cineclub Verona is the oldest cinematographic association in Verona – explains president Michael Benson – because it dates back to 1935. In 1944 the documents disappeared during the war, but we reborn it from scratch and 29 years ago Ugo Brusaporco founded the Festival”.
“For the first time, the San Giò Festival was dedicated to no one but itself – adds director Ugo Brusaporco – because we believe it is important, before making the leap into the third decade, to reflect on the road traveled and the meaning of organizing a festival today. Our path was outlined along the way, thanks to the films we rejected and those we chose. Loving cinema doesn't mean sitting on the sofa watching Netflix, but going and finding it."
