Venice Film Festival: Michael Mann wins the “Bonissima” in the name of Ferrari.

With the film “Ferrari” the images of Modena will go around the world and, in addition to renewing the myth of the Drake, it will be a great opportunity to promote the city and the territory. With these motivations, Mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli on Sunday 3 September, in the Representative Hall of the Town Hall, presented director Michael Mann with the “Bonissima” award, the ceramic statue that reproduces one of the symbols of the city that watches over Piazza Grande. The mayor, together with the regional councilor for culture Mauro Felicori, underlined how the film captures “the sound of our territory, that of the heart and that of the engines”. And Muzzarelli recalled how the story, set in 1957, stories "the desire for redemption of a land that wanted to win again: in the film I found this passion".

Thanking for the help received from the institutions and cities involved in the filming, Michael Mann, director famous for works such as “Heat-The challenge","The last of the Mohicans"and "Collateral", he recalled the experience he had in Modena: "Beautiful city, I understood why people don't leave it, like Ferrari, or when they leave they come back”. And he said he was moved and excited by the spirit of the people who, as he turned around, showed appreciation for the choice to dedicate a film to Enzo Ferrari.

The film, presented in recent days at Venice, at the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival, will be released in theaters around the end of the year, and stars, among others, Adam Driver, Patrick Dempsey, Penélope Cruz, Hugh Jackman, Shailene Woodley. It is set in 1957 and was filmed last summer, with the collaboration of Emilia-Romagna Film Commission, also in Modena, Maranello and other local areas.

Present at the meeting with Mann were, among others, the president of the municipal council Fabio Poggi, the municipal councilor for culture Andrea Bortolamasi and other members of the council, the mayor of Maranello Luigi Zironi, the deputy of Fiorano Morena Silingardi, the mayor of Novellara Elena Carletti, the mayor of Imola Marco Panieri and representatives of Reggio Emilia, the province of Ferrara of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission and other entities involved in the production.
