Veneto: Youth Sailing World Championships kick off on Alto Garda

Until July 20th Alto Garda welcomes 450 under 19 athletes from 71 nations. Six involved clubs and many events to bring everyone closer to the world of sailing sports.

Veneto: the Youth Sailing World Championships started on Alto Garda.

 

“For the Lake Garda destination, this is an event of great attraction and recognition for Italian sailing and the Garda sailing clubs, confirming, once again, this unique regatta field of absolute excellence, even at an international level, capable of make the competitions adrenaline-filled and action-packed thanks to its regular winds."

With these words the President of the Veneto Region, welcomes the start of the races

Youth World Cup on Garda, organized by Fraglia Vela Riva, Lega Navale Italiana Riva del Garda, Circolo Vela Arco, Circolo Surf Torbole, Circolo Vela Torbole and Fraglia Vela Malcesine, with the support of the Italian Sailing Federation and will see the participation of over 900 competing athletes and technicians coming from around 70 nations, and 11 youth disciplines engaged, with male and female fleets of the 29er, 420, ILCA6, Nacra15, Formula Kite and Windsurf Youth iQFOiL classes, for a movement of over 1.200 people including athletes and companions.

“Adapting to the characteristics of the splendid Alto Garda area characterized by small towns, the sailing clubs for the first time have chosen to create a system to host a World Championship – adds the President –. The two Regions, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige, wanted to join forces to best host the young stars of world sailing. An occasion made even more important by the proximity of the Olympic competitions in Paris. All that remains for me to do is wish fair winds to all the athletes and in particular to the Italian team”.
