Varese: “Ciao Franca, an impromptu review”, the second edition of the initiative in homage to Franca Rame and Dario Fo is underway

Varese: “Ciao Franca, an impromptu review”, the second edition of the initiative in homage to Franca Rame and Dario Fo is underway

"Hi Franca, a sudden review“, this is the name of the festival in homage to Franca Rame e Dario Fo which will take place at Varese 22 from September to November 10 2024. An initiative that will have as its focal point Lower Biumo, the neighborhood where Franca Rame spent part of her childhood. She left in 2023 on the occasion of 10th anniversary of death della Rame, the event is back again this year because the organizers' goal is to make it a regular event in Varese.

Conceived and directed by Coopuf which is located in Biumo in via De Cristoforis, the festival is in collaboration with the Compagnia Fo – Rame and with the patronage of Fondazione Fo – Rame and is in partnership with the Municipality of Varese. The rich program was presented this morning by the Councilor for Culture Enzo Laforgia together with Andrea Minidio e Rossella Pennisi by Coopuf.

“The exhibition we dedicated to Franca Rame and Dario Fo is back for its second edition – said Andrea Minidio by Coopuf – it is a festival that wants to pay homage to two important figures of Italian culture and remember the period of childhood that Franca Rame spent in the Biumo neighborhood. The program ranges from theater shows, also with the presence of her son Jacopo Fo, the Arturo Mazzola exhibition, meetings, music and circus shows. All connected by the great artistic legacy of Fo and Rame. Furthermore, this year we wanted the festival to intertwine collaborations, such as the one with the autumn festival of Biumo and to also take place in other less central neighborhoods of Varese with shows also dedicated to the little ones. In short, a festival full of initiatives that from September to November will animate Varese in memory of the two great artists”.

The Ciao Franca review will begin Sunday September 22 in the Biumo district on the occasion of the festival Scents and Flavors of Autumn. On this day the inauguration will be held Arturo Mazzola's exhibition in Nicolini Hall. Readings, guided tours and live music are also planned along the streets of Biumo Inferiore.

We then continue on 4 October with the show "Talking to Lemons"At 19 at the Biumo Club “You trouble me“. The theme of the event will be words and music around Enzo Jannacci, with Andrea Bellavita e Alexander Cerea. The journalist moderates Diego Pisati.

Il 26 October instead the exhibition moves to the neighborhood of Capolago. At 14.30 in the neighborhood oratory there will be a circus show "The wolf cat's joke“, edited by the “Tre Punti” Company.

Finally, the November 9 pm 21.00 in the Auditorium of Civic Music High School, there will be a theatrical show “Jacopo Fo talks about Dario Fo's songs“, a co-production between Compagnia Fo – Rame and Coopuf.

“This event is taking place in partnership with the Department of Culture – said the councilor Enzo Laforgia – we supported the initiative because it presents an interesting program in homage to two great interpreters of Italian culture. The goal is in fact to recover and bring people closer to the contents expressed by the long career of two important figures such as Dario Fo, the last Italian Nobel Prize winner for literature, and Franca Rame. Their careers have in fact been extraordinary and always refined. With their popular theater of civil and political commitment they have followed the evolution of Italian culture and society. So the second edition of this event that pays homage to these two exceptional artists is good. Furthermore – concluded Laforgia – the organizers' commitment to finding ways to collaborate with other city initiatives and the attention to bringing the proposal to other neighborhoods of Varese is appreciable”.
