Umbrialibri Politics kicks off in Perugia: focus on the new global disorder.

In Fondazione Perugia from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th January eleven events in three days to tell the contemporary story with some of the most prestigious names on the national scene: from Sergio Rizzo to Peter Gomez, from Francesco Giorgino to Marco Damilano.

PERUGIA – Much more than an editorial event or a literary review: Umbrialibri challenges the boundaries of the book universe and arrives in Perugia with Umbrialibri Politics, entitled “The new global disorder”.

The event of the Umbria Region, with the organization curated by Sviluppumbria and the artistic direction of Angelo Mellone, will start on January 26th and will affect the whole weekend. From Marco Damilano to David Parenzo, Umbrialibri Politics offers a rich program of events and guests that will liven up the Fondazione Perugia, in Corso Vannucci, until Sunday evening.

FRIDAY

It starts on Friday afternoon at 18pm with the presentation of the book “Interview with power. Everything you wanted to know and now know” (Editori Laterza) by Sabino Cassese and Alessandra Sardoni, moderated by Alessandro Campi, professor of political science at the University of Perugia.

Saturday

The large day on Saturday will see five appointments starting from 11 am. It begins with the talk "Social media opinions and the perception of Italian reality. Between analysis and disinformation”, with Alessandra Ghisleri, director of Euromedia Research and Italian pollster, and the well-known television journalist Francesco Giorgino. Following, at 12, there will be a presentation of the book "Geopolitics of chaos. The future of Europe and the political rewriting of history” (the Solferini) by Nathalie Tocci. They will dialogue with the author, Professor Alessandro Campi and Lorenzo Lo Basso, journalist. The latter will also be protagonists of the afternoon talk "Talking about politics”, in dialogue with Peter Gomez. Subsequently, at 17 pm the writers Claudio Pagliara and Salvatore Santangelo, authors respectively of "The perfect storm. USA and China on the brink of World War III” (Piemme) and “Eastern front. Past and present of a geographical destiny” (Castelvecchi), will be the protagonists of the meeting entitled “War and the search for a new world order. Where is the world going?”, moderated by Lorenzo Lo Basso.
The afternoon will continue at 18 pm with the meeting "Geopolitics of food. The great food risk”, during which Lorenzo Lo Basso will interview the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini. Francesco Zecca and Antonio Picasso, author of the book "The great banquet. The geopolitics of food, the future of nutrition” (Paesi Edizioni).

Sunday

Umbrialibri Politics will continue on Sunday, starting at 11 am, with the meeting entitled "The rediscovery of the homeland. Between feeling and politics”. Speakers will be Alessandro Campi, author of the book "The ghost of the nation. For a critique of the nation” (Marsilio) and Marco Damilano, author of the book “My little homeland. Choral history of a country that exists” (Rizzoli). Sergio Rizzo and Andrea Di Consoli, writer and journalist, moderate. From 12:00, journalists David Parenzo and Duilio Giammaria discuss "Talking about politics, describing war, always telling the truth”. Moderated by Lorenzo Lo Basso.
At 16 pm we then move on to "Geopolitics of art”, the debate with Costantino D'Orazio, moderated by the artistic director of Umbria Libri Angelo Mellone. The afternoon continues with the meeting "What we can no longer see at the cinema", with the art critic Luca Beatrice and the journalist Luigi Mascheroni and which includes at the end the screening of their docufilm "Overwhelmed by unusual censorship”. Moderated by Andrea di Consoli. “Italians, politics, memory” is the title of the meeting that will close Umbrialibri Politics, Sunday at 18:00 pm. Moderated by Gianni Scipione Rossi, Ernesto Galli della Loggia and Giovanni Belardelli dialogue.

“Umbrialibri Politics – explains Angelo Mellone, artistic director – it is an experiment, the openness to political analysis as a form of language, to the narration of the great themes of contemporary life and the enormous difficulties that we encounter today in the deluge of communication that we have to manage on a daily basis. Therefore, we want to offer the public analysis tools, compasses, coordinates, with the help of prestigious guests. The UL 365 project, therefore, expands and tries to do it in the best possible way."

“With a window entirely dedicated to political issues – explains Paola Agabiti, regional councilor for Culture – UmbriaLibri wants to offer a stage to the great names of literature who question, reflect and develop theories on the social, economic and cultural phenomena of our time. If reading and knowledge make us aware citizens, organizing events that can transmit knowledge, values ​​and life experiences in particular to the new generations is certainly the role of the institutions and this is also the mission that we have chosen to give to UmbriaLibri which from showcase of Umbrian publishing, it is transforming into an event increasingly oriented towards becoming a high-level cultural event on the national scene. In this first edition of Umbrialibri Politics a reflection on global disorder opens. The purpose of literature is also to help readers find meaning in the midst of the vortex of everyday life, therefore a truth in the chaos of the world: the hope is that in these three days, a strong cultural stimulus to face with knowledge and with the positive energy that literature releases, delicate and difficult issues to interpret in a world of great changes".
