Trieste: dialogue on the history of tourist guides at Palazzo Gopcevich.

To "Tell the story of the city redeemed twice" Francesca Pitacco, art historian and president of the Association of Tourist Guides of Friuli Venezia Giulia since 2016, will talk with the curator of the exhibition “Vola Colomba. Lunario Triestino 1953-54” Claudia Colecchia, Wednesday 27 November at 17.30 pm in Sala Bazlen at Palazzo Gopcevich.

A tourist guide since 2000, Francesca Pitacco will illustrate the birth of the profession and its evolution up to the most recent reform, with particular attention to the establishment of the Association, one of the first associations of this field born in Italy.

The meeting is part of the rich calendar of collateral activities of the exhibition “Vola Colomba. Lunario triestino 1953-54” (open until 8 December 2024), which also features photos of the students enrolled in the first three-month course for tourist guides held in 1954 by the Tourist Board under the patronage of the Superintendency. In addition to the teachings of Silvio Rutteri, Decio Gioseffi and Aurelia Gruber Benco, the students had the opportunity to learn lessons in style and behavior from the director Giacomina Lapenna.
