Trento: Volunteering matters, at the Sophie Scholl high school the first volunteer fair entirely dedicated to students

Will be held Thursday October 24 al Sophie Scholl High School la first volunteer fair dedicated to students. Participants will be 27 organizations and approximately 400 girls and boys from the third, fourth and fifth grades, which, divided into three time blocks from 8.15 to 12.30, will have available ten minutes to know the associations according to the model of the "speed date” and a final moment to freely compare with those that most intrigued them.

Many volunteering proposals will be presented to the students, from Italian courses for foreigners to assistance for the disabled, from the care of mountain paths to entertainment in residential health care facilities or in organizations that deal with children and young people.

For the first time, the volunteering enters school involving all the boys and girls during school hours, to intercept the desires and interests of those who otherwise would not have approached the realities of the territory.

Anffas, the Arianna cooperative, the Auto Mutual Aid Association of Trento, Libera, la Rete, Penny Wirton, Trentino Solidale, the Italian Red Cross, the Provincial Association for Minors, Fiemme Fassa Inclusive Sport, Mlal Trentino, Carpe Diem, Civico 13 – Trentino Youth Help Desk, Casa Padre Angelo, InCo, Tre Fontane, Società alpinisti tridentini, Centro servizi di volontariato and Progetto 92 will be present, in addition to the Gardolo, Angeli custodi and San Bartolomeo health care homes and the Margherita Grazioli public personal services company.

For the occasion, the entities involved will make available to participants over 130 positions, have structured specific 30-hour projects, designed to allow students to reconcile volunteer work with their school commitments. The 30 hours spent as volunteers can also be recognized as part of the school-work alternation path.

Young people who want to start the journey, in afternoons of Monday 28 October, Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 from 13.15pm to 16.15pm they will be able to interact with teachers who will support them in activating the desired volunteer project.

During the preparatory phase, a group of students collaborated in promoting the initiative by reflecting on the theme of volunteering and designing the graphic materials.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Youth Policies Office of the Municipality of Trento, the Trentino Volunteer Service Center and the Artigianelli Institute and is the result of the path carried out by the working group "Awareness in schools" as part of Trento European Capital of Volunteering.
