Trento, the third edition of “Solidarity goes to the Market” arrives: six thousand euros in vouchers to 200 families for the purchase of local products.

The initiative “Solidarity goes to the Market” is expanding. The project aims not only to provide financial assistance to families in difficulty but also promote access to healthy, quality food, even better if seasonal and coming from our territory thanks to the agricultural operators of the farmers' markets in Piazza Dante and Via Filzi.

It is a collaborative initiative with Nutrire Trento, Villa Sant'Ignazio, Trentino solidale odv, Emporio solidale, Caritas diocesana but also with Coldiretti Trento.

Here are some numbers of the project: a solidarity fund (of about six thousand euros per year) managed by the social cooperative of Villa Sant'Ignazio with which the shopping vouchers used at the farmers' markets are paid; 1.200 shopping vouchers to be delivered to approximately 200 families, to be spent by December 31st at the farmers' markets in Trento; three distribution entities involved in the Welfare and Social Cohesion service - Trentino Solidale, Emporio solidale and the diocesan Caritas - which in addition to distributing the food parcel with the shopping voucher for the farmers' market inside, play a role in listening to and welcoming the people who frequent the distribution points; 17 agricultural operators adhering to the project present at the farmers' markets in Piazza Dante and Via Filzi who in addition to accepting the vouchers they apply a “solidarity” discount of 5% of the value of the voucher.

The aim of the project is to give the voucher users, who generally do not have the opportunity to choose the contents of the food parcel, the opportunity to go to the market and decide independently which products to buy also based on your own eating habits and together pay particular attention to the importance of a healthy diet through the consumption of quality products from our territory.

With this purpose On October 26th at the Farmers' Market in Piazza Dante there will be the event “Ciacere al mercà”, a moment of sharing and mutual knowledge (also with the sharing of seasonal recipes) in a welcoming and solidarity atmosphere open to all with an information stand of Villa Sant'Ignazio, Trentino solidale, Emporio solidale and Caritas.

On that day also Coldiretti Trento and the friendly countryside foundation propose “la Spesa sospesa” (see poster) where every market-goer can purchase fresh food products from any Farmers’ Market operator to be left at the collection point in Piazza Dante. The collected products will then be donated to Trentino Solidale which will provide distribution through its own channels.
